I did post a few days ago, but had no response.

11 month old has diarrhoea and it's pretty much water at the moment. It did slow down and started to be less watery, but all day yesterday is was back to water.

He's wetting his nappies more often now (he didn't for just over a day so I took him to the doctors)

Doctor says keep feeding formula milk so he's hydrated, and squash/water. But everywhere I read says avoid formula milk?
I tried toast because I've read that's good, and he usually has toast, but it's followed by more diarrhoea immediately after eating it.

Porridge seems to be helping in a way. I don't know what to do to help. Worried I'm making it worse but the doctor says keep with the formula?

Oh dear, poor little guy. Do you have any idea why he is having this problem at all?

Having this for a few days could be dangerous in terms of dehydration, so keeping up his fluid intake as advised is essential. If he doesn't seem classically unwell, though - unhappy, off his food, feverish or vomiting - as he would be from a bug, could it be something he is eating? Have you recently introduced any new foods that could be disagreeing with him? Is he teething? Is he getting a sore bottom at all?

Sorry lo is unwell hope there better soon.

I would just keep feeding him as normal. If he doesn't feel well enough to have it, then he'll refuse it. He knows better what he needs than anyone. If he's truly unwell, he won't have much appetite anyway, but if he's happy to eat and drink, then that's a good sign and I wouldn't limit it. Formula should still be his main source of hydration, so keep feeding on demand to keep him well-hydrated.

Hi there,

Sorry you and your lo is going through this. Keep him hydrated! Take him to the doctor. They will likely give him some ORS(oral hydration solution) I googled it. you can make it at home. https://rehydrate.org/solutions/homemade.htm
