Head's in a mess right now so apologies if this makes no sense.

Went for my 12 week scan today ( 12+4 by my dates, 12+1 by scan). Baby was very active, arms and legs everywhere, all seemed good.

Then she pointed out a "halo" of fluid around baby's head and said that it indicated a high risk of chromosomal abnormalities. There is also "significant fetal oedma".

My scan report says - "There appears to be a septated fluid collection at the back of the neck consistant with a cystic hygroma. Significant fetal odema is also noted. 20 week scan to be booked by Preg,Day Care if required."

Got an appointment to see a specialist on Thursday (glad they could get us in straight away) to have genetic counselling and probably a CVS.

Done some research online (bad idea) and it doesn't look good from what i've read.

Please if anyone has experience of this please reply, i need to prepare myself.

Oh lovely i wish i could answer but i have no idea. I didnt want to read and run. Googling is the devil! Ive worked myself into a mess by doing this about our scan and blood results ect. Im glad you are getting seen so soon. Will be thinking of you and bump on thursday. Sending you big cuddles lovely.:hugs: Sorry i wasnt much help.

Big hugs honey xx

My advice stay away from Google.

Sometimes the cystic hygroma is absorbed as the baby develops and grows, i had a pregnancy with twins where one had a cystic hygroma but there were lots of other complications as well.
From what i was led to belive a cystic hygroma on its own isnt always doom and gloom.

Fingers crossed and you will be in my thoughts

x
