When my 12 wko was born he struggled with a shallow latch. One of my nipples is a little flat, the other more erect. He adjusted well and it was going well.
But lately he has had a really poor shallow latch. Just latching on to the erect part. He does gag easily so I'm sure it has to do with me. Any ideas of what I can do to encourage a deeper latch? He gets lots of air and does quite close his mouth and moves his whole jaw instead of just his tongue. Should I get a lactation consult appointment?
