Hi ladies, hope everyone's doing well! :)

So, tomorrow I have a 13 week check up. I know they won't be doing an ultrasound since I won't get another one until I find out the gender (18-20 weeks). But I was wondering what to expect? I have yet to hear my baby's heartbeat, and I'm wondering if they'll even check my baby's heartbeat? Besides weight, blood pressure, etc. what should I expect?

Most likely you will hear your babys heartbeat at every appointment now. Theyll just do the regular, take urine, weight,bp, maybe a shot, if they didnt inquire about family history at ya 8/9 week appointment they will now.

I'm in agreement with the PP. I've only had one OB appointment with this pregancy and my next isn't until the 19th when I'll be 14+4 but I remember how it was with my son. :) For every appointment after 12 weeks, it was basically the same thing: weight, BP, Asking if I've had any bleeding or concerns, and then the doctor would feel for the uterus and pull out the doppler for a hb check. (When you get further along things get added like checking for dialation, but that's MUCH later! :)) And that's about it. My checkups were always pretty quick and it was so nice to hear my bean's hb!! :) I can't wait til my appointment on the 19th for that!

Good Luck with your appointment tomorrow!

Thank you guys! I'm so upset because I heard my baby's heartbeat when I was 6+4, but it was a transvaginal ultrasound and she moved the wand - so I literally heard it for maybe 1 second. I'm keeping my fingers crossed I'll heard my bub's heartbeat! And probably cry like a little girl :haha:.

Depends on the doctors some will look every time some wont because unless theirs an issue they don't see the need and don't want to end up having to send you for an ultrasound and scare you if they can't find it

I know I won't be getting a sonogram - I won't get another until I'm about 18 weeks for my gender scan. I was more or less wondering if they'd do try gettin a heartbeat on a Doppler.

Yeah I was saying some font use the Doppler all the time because if they can't find the heart beat they have to usually send you for a scan to confirm baby is okay. Mine doesn't use the Doppler unless there is an issue like cramping or decreased movement later in pregnancy

Some won't use the doplar till 16 weeks because you are sometimes not able to hear the hb with the doplar at 13 weeks.

They usually weigh you
Do your bp
And ask you if you have any questions. :)

Sorry for the misunderstanding :) I didn't mean to sound rude :haha: They did end up using the doppler, and they found the heartbeat right away. 158 BPM

That's fantastic!!! What a relief that must have been for you. :D
Now they have found it they will most likely check at every appointment for you.
