My heartburn seems to be getting worse and worse! I'm afraid to burp because it always brings up the most horrid heartburn. Last night in the middle of the night I was wide awake in pain and had to scarf down some tums - they didn't help at all! Does anyone have a better solution?

My mother swears by vinegar. You put a tablespoon in a glass of water and drink it. She said it really worked for her. I looked it up online and it seems the only drawback might be the effect on tooth enamel.

My Dixie told me to make sure I eat my last main meal at least 4 hours before going to bed. And then for one hour after eating to make sure I'm sitting up right.

Also if tums doesn't work I chew gum. The extra saliva helps tame heartburn.

Had this last night:wacko:

I got up and took 2-3 tablespoons of vinegar then washed it down with water. Pickle Juice, pepper juice or any vinegar based product will do.

I have read mustard or peanut butter with a little honey too.

Gaviscon is the only thing that would get rid of mine in my last two pregnancies....I had it terrible all the way through with both xx

I use Pepcid complete. Works really wel.

Thanks everyone, I will try some of these tips. It's beyond bad today (and I forgot my tums at home!!)

My doctor prescribed me Rantidine (Zantac) for both pregnancies. I take it once every 12 hours and it works wonders :)
