Hi my name is Nicola im 16 and have a big problem. I am 3 n a half months pregnant now and start my first job on monday, I havnt let anyone no about my pregnancy yet apart from my boyfriend but when i tried to drop it to my mum last night she went absolutly mental. Can anyone help please because my belly is starting to change now and i just really dont no what to do? x thanx

Heya Nicola! Im Ashleigh,im 17 and 8 weeks pregnant.
Firstly congratulations:)!
If I were you I would carry on starting the Job on monday and once you've settled in a bit or feel comfortable,You can then tell them that you are expecting. There is no Law stating that you have to tell your employer your pregnant atall,Its upto you who you tell and when you tell them.
Give your mum a bit of time to come around to things,It must of been a HUGE shock for her,As it was for my mum, she flipped when I told her but after a couple of days she got used to the idea of being a granny and is so excited now! Im not saying this will happen for you, But always best to let the dust settle a bit, Im sure when she sees her Granchild she will instantly fall in love with him/her.
Have you got anyone else around to support you? Friends or other family members? Its always alot easier to talk to some one about your problems
PM me anytime
Keep ur chin up chick
Xx

Hiya,

I'm Sarah, almost 20, and due in a week.

Give things a chance to settle in with your Mam. You have to remember, you were her teeny tiny baby, and she probably still sees you as her baby girl. The day we walk in and tell our parents we're pregnant, I think it hits them for 6, as then they realise you're starting your own family, and you're not that baby girl anymore.

I hope things work out for you, but just don't rush things, take it easy, you've still got 5 1/2 or 6months to go yet. No need to be in a hurry for everyone to accept it.

Just give her some time and hopefully she will be alright.

Make sure if you havent already you make an appointment with your doctor so that your pregnancy can be monitored by the midwives to make sure you and your baby are safe.

Yep, you defo need to see your gp & get booked in with a midwife.....no matter what else happens, you need to make sure you are looked after physically.

Also, I'm pretty sure you only have to tell your employer that you're pg when you get to 25 weeks....so you have plenty of time. You can probably check that out on government websites, although there might be something on here that gives you advice.

But the most important thing to do now is get to see a midwife hun....

Good luck...you'll be fine, and I'm sure your mum will come round once the shock has worn off :hugs:

xx

You dont HAVE to tell your employer ... however depending on what kind of job it is that you will be doing you should consider your options. When you inform your employer that you are pregnant a risk assesment will be carried out to make sure you can do your job properly and safely.

If you dont tell them, with certain jobs, you could be putting yourself at risk. Just something to consider ...
