Hey guys!
I'm 18 weeks pregnant and have a really stiff neck on left side and lower back pain on both sides! Is this normal or is it a sign of something more serious?
:)

Back ache is definitely normal I had it from 16 weeks but Ive no experience with the stiff neck but Its probably nothing to worry about. If you are worried though I'd suggest you contact your midwife for reassurance but it is probably just muscle related xx

Did you maybe sleep wrong? Or is it ongoing? i've had backpain since week 17 but my scans and everything came back normal as well as the ultrasound. I have been in so much pain this entire pregnancy :( My doctor told me its just part of some womens experience. I mean your body is shifting and changing everything inside. I just wish it was july lol..everyone says its gonna get worse the more weight gained :( Im just like ughhhhhhhh JULY HURRY! LOL

OH one more thing.try a bath! They help me when my back starts hurting :) Maybe they'll help you a bit You can also try and get a prenatal massage. Everyone says they help!

Thanks lilmisslilly I think I'll speak to
My doctor just to be sure next week :)

Danii25 I had a bit of a sore neck yesterday but then it's come back this
Morning feels like my neck is so heavy just in one spot! I always wake up in weird positions and half on and off pillows so could be the way I slept! You have no idea how
Much I am with you on the hurry up
July comment iv had nothing but problems and pain too! What date are you due?

July 4th. And it literally feels like time has slowed down now.

That stuff is normal hun! Try a warm bath and a pillow between your knees when u sleep at night. I would also suggest, a chiropractor! I go to one and its helped a lot with this pregnancy. Just a thought!

last week i had a stiff neck all week and also a headache. this went on for a few days and i was starting to get worried. then i ended up getting a nasty cold and the stiff neck symptoms just went away after the cold passed.

i think you will be fine hunny, in pregnancy everything feels worse and you get random aches all the time.

I've had horrendous back pain over the last few weeks, but the Dr thinks I have SPD which I'm waiting for physio for... It's also causing problems with my hips, and cramps in my abdomen as well though, so the chances are if it's just back pain for you then it's probably nothing to worry about. Just something rather annoying! It's only once mine got stupidly bad that they started considering SPD.

As for the neck pain, I've had that as well :dohh: for me it was worst in the morning but then would last throughout the day sometimes and cause me headaches etc. Because it was worst in the morning I put it down to the way I was sleeping, after all are ligaments are all a bit looser now so I guess we're more susceptible to getting a stiff neck. Anyway, about a week ago I bought a new orthopaedic support pillow and have found it's made a massive difference. I'm still a tiny bit stiff on some mornings but nothing major and nothing that doesn't pass in the first hour or so. So I would definitely recommend trying that. I got mine from Argos for about £12... I hope that helps  :flower:
