18lb , 4mth old, 40oz's formula per day?

Only just thought to work it out, no wonder lo is feeding so much in night after his most recent growth spurt! He's only getting 20ozs from 7am-6pm! Only half!!!

I think I'm feeding too often though? He only takes max of 5 ozs usually 4 at a day feed, then takes 6/7 in the night once and the other oz are early morning feed and then fits and spurts 7-9 , thought couldn't settle but just plain hungry?

My lo has 7oz every 3 hours in the day and sttn hes 17w5d but only 13lb10 so only needs 33oz a day and is getting 35oz.

The calculation is 2.5oz per each lb baby weighs so your lo needs 45oz a day if hes 18lb. 2.5x18=45

How often do you feed him during the day? does he sttn?

Def not sttn!! Read that a refluxer will take longer to sttn though. Night feeds I'm ok with, it's the time from last nap through bedtime, he was awake 3 hrs last night! Not crying but I was tired!!

Focus next few days is going to be feeds/naps, as one helps the other, just can't believe I didn't click earlier on the ozs!!

Before he changed to neocate he was having 35-40 ozs a day as most of it was coming out both ends bless him, he dropped his ozs once his allergy and reflux were treated but kept gaining so didn't worry!

Yep that sounds about right actually. My LO is 15 pounds at four months and is drinking anything from 30 to 40 ounces a day, in 4-5 feeds. Also on neocate like your little one.

He has 6-7 feeds a day? Does he not want more than four ounces per feed or is that a residual symptom from the pre-neocate era, i.e. if he had reflux etc before maybe it was painful for him to eat more than four ounces at a time?

Well, we upped his ranitidine dosage and his ozs are up 5.5-7.5 per bottle!!
