We just changed to 100% formula last week after a month of BF. Initially he fed every 2 hours but he then started going 3 hourly with the occasional 2 hr feed here and there.

Well today he is back to his two hourly feeds, he is taking between 3-4oz , and doesnt really spit up. Is this ok? Im worried im over feeding him. He manages to sometimes go 4 hourly overnight and last night had a bottle at 7pm and never woke up till midnight!!! But then wanted fed at 3.30am, 5.30am, 7am, 9am and then again ther at 11am!!!

Growth spurt or just a hungry baby? My HV doesnt advice going onto hungrier baby milk just yet as it leaves you with no options later on.
Any advice or do I just go with it and continue to feed on demand?

Thanx

growth spurt!!
Every 2 hours isn't a problem at that age anyway, Ruby fed every 2 hours until about 5 weeks!
Sounds fine...:)

Thanx I guess I just thought he would feel fuller with formula, obviously not

As my doctor said...'little babies are self regulating, if they are hungry they will eat if not they won't. Take your cues from him, sounds like a growth spurt to me too. Stevie is back to having feeds at midnight again this week after sleeping right through for ages...arghhh!!

i'd say growth spurt too! Kians had periods of doing this.

Don't worry abt trying to regulate food intake...in my opinion (and based on research i've done) babies don't 'over eat'! HV that say this sort of thing r talking rubbish...babies grow at different rates so some might b bigger than others or gain more one week and less the next. If u control their intake urself then they'll lose the ability to self regulate and thats were u might end up with future weight issues. BF babies have an infinite supply of food so y should it b different for FF babies? as long as ur not adding anything to their milk or force feeding them...if u follow their cues then they'll b getting what they need, when they need it.
I always offer Kian a bigger bottle than i know he generally takes so that he has the opion to stop himself rather than me taking it away when its finished and risk him still being hungry. Kian has days where he has bigger bottles/ eats more often then guidelines say and other days when he has way less than he 'spose' to (he seems to go for periods of 'stocking up' then feeds less for a day or two)

i used to really worry abt this sort of thing too but our LOs know what they're doing...just go with it x

Chase often ate every two hours, growth spurt or not. LOL Let your LO lead the way hon.

i wouldnt worry about over feeding at this age. and it is greta that bubs is leeping for a longer period at night . i demand fed my lo andthis is exactly how he put himself into a little routine the first feeds he dropped were the night ones gradually going for longer at night time until it ended up being 6 am befor ehe would wake . it sounds like you are doing fantasticly :)

Lily eats between 2~3 hrs and always have x

Yeah love growth spurt, sounds like it, hollie goes through it as well xxx
