Ive started to exclusively pump for our DS. I prefer it much more than having him feed off me. Currently he is eating about 4oz every 3 hrs and still wants more. He could probably eat more around 6oz. I feel like this is a lot! Opinions? We go to the dr on Friday. I'm sure he has put on weight. He was 9# 3oz at birth.

Bottle feeding is hard because they tend to take more then they would on breast....

An average baby 4weeks and older takes about 25oz a day but anywhere from 19-30oz depending on size of the bubs...

Divide by how many feeds your lo has in a day and that's how much u should be giving as a rough guide

Babies go through growth spurts, one being at 2 weeks. Its possible that your baby is not only eating a lot more because he needs the strength, but also they get comfort from sucking. Since you are choosing not to breast feed him, he is getting comfort from the nipple of a bottle, which isn't the same as a nipple from a breast. I've been told by my midwife its impossible to over feed a breast fed baby, but you can over feed a formula fed baby. Its more likely he is needing more food right now.

I really wouldn't worry at this stage. Until about 3 months its pretty much a constant growth spurt and you should let your baby feed as much as he/she wants. Obviously speak to the dr about it and check weight gain when you go but I am sure everything's just fine :)

Let them feed, generally bottle feed babies can overfeed. But you don't want to say no, as they could be in a growth spurt. So let him feed, worst case, LO will throw it up.
