How many days after ovulation do you need to have the blood test to check ovulation etc? my GP said to go in a week before im due AF so would it be it 7 - 10dpo? i've just finished AF and i'm ment to have bloods taken this month, i chart so i'll be-able to see when i've ovulated.

Hi,

Your bloods are taken 7 days before your next cycle so if you have a typical 28 day cycle it would be day 21, 7dpo.

7dpo is correct. Im currently having ivf and my con told me that not follicles have eggs, if your cd21 results come back good, this does not mean you have released an egg. You cna ovulate but not release an egg!!!!!!!!!!!!
i was shocked as most women think if they ov then an egg was released. there is no way of knowing for sure.

21 day bloods are done on just that - day 21 of your cycle. If it falls on a weekend then have it done to the closest day i.e. the Friday or Monday. If your period hasn't arrived 7 days after the test - GPS/Clinics will often do a re-test to see if you have ovulated later than they thought and then take it from there.

Thanks I have a 39 - 40 day cycle & ovulate between CD 20 - CD 24, somtimes CD 29, i'll only kno by my temps & when FF tells me.. so i should wait until i've ovulated on FF an then goto my GP 7DPO? coz if i went by CD 21 all the time, i'd never get correct results lol.

Hey I have recently had this done

I have PCOS and I havent had a period since Novemeber. I went to my Gp and told him I had a tiny bit of blood on the 15th of Jan so he said he needs to take blood 21 days from that day. They don't do blood work on the 3rd so I had to have it done on the 2nd of feb. I will ring them on monday to get the results.

Good luck hun.....your GP should of really booked you an appointment there and then when he told you he wanted blood work done for your ovulation?
