25 Years Old with FSH 14

Hello,

I really need some help... I was told today by my fertility specialist that my FSH is 14 and concerning. I also have PCOS and the testing she performed said I have some sort of bleeding issue that makes me bleed more then normal so I've been referred to a hematologist.

Combined with my partners very low sperm count she is recommending straight to IVF w/ ICSI. We can not afford this.

She is allowing me to do one cycle of IUI with my OHs sperm but she said she isn't hopeful for a good result. I need to lose weight first though.

For a 25 year old a FSH of 14 is quite a it high isn't it? I'm so worried and scared and I just have no idea where to turn. I need some help or words of encouragement because I'm completely lost and falling apart.

hi, sorry to hear of all your problems FSH 14 is considered high, especially for you age (i was borderline high at 9.8 when i was 27). my husband also has poor sperm - i think it was 9 million, 9% morphology and very low motility (can't remember percentage) and i have severe endo. FSH, whilst not good to be high, the eggs tend to be of a better quality than that of an older woman with the same FSH. i'm currently waiting for results of new day 3 bloods as they suspect my FSH to have increased as i'm exhibiting menopausal symptoms (i'm now 31). whilst sadly, your pregnancy didn't end well, it does at least show that you have working eggs and that your OH's sperm can fertilise them, although i'm sure that's not much of a consolation to you right now

we managed to conceive back in 2009 after i had radical surgery to remove endometriosis with just the help of letrozole even though we were due to start ivf the following month as my consultant didn't hold out much hope for us !

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. I really need them right now. It is nice to see someone else who was facing multiple problems who had success. OHs sperm counts were 4 mill, 4 mill, 10 mill.
