Hi all,

Well, I've reached the third tri, and I still haven't felt any kicking going on above my belly button. In fact, LO is still enjoying kicking me in the crotch a fair bit!
Is this normal? When will I start to feel higher kicks? I'm a little worried that baby is in the wrong position or something.

Thanks,
Cat

Just sneaking over to test the water from the 2nd tri! I'm 26 weeks tomorrwo, and still only getting low kicks; had one in my bladder today that was like an electric shock! I have an anterior placenta... could it be that yours it too?
xx

i had a breach baby and my kicks where all high. Her legs where by her head. So dont worr to much just yet. Even if baby is breach, still has plenty of time to turn. however your baby may be in the right position

Some days I get kicked in the ribs and the next I get only low kicks. I guess there's still lots of room to move around.

I was getting kicks low down as well But now baby is focused on leaning on my bladder and kicking higher up now as she has her head in the right postion apparently. Your bubba may move round or it might not be anything to worry about.

Mine too... everything that feels like a kick is down low. He was breech the last time I had an ultrasound, and I'm pretty sure not much has changed.

my babies head is down REALLY low cause i can feel her hiccups and she kicks around my belly button.. little worried but ill ask my midwife next time i see her

Thanks guys, it is too early to worry about baby's position now, right? I just feel like I should have felt it at least once higher up by now, but I never do. Always below the belly button, mostly underneath my bump.
Will the midwife be able to check if anything is wrong?

she may be able to feel it somehow.. im sure it should be ok.. My son used to kick my ribs but my new bubs is no where near there atm.. shes way down the bottom.. mum said i may go early.. but im sure it will be ok

I'm nowhere near getting a kick in the ribs- who'd have ever thought I'd want one!?! This baby is really low, but at the 20 week scan it was head down. This is my first baby, so I'm not really sure whats normal and what isn't, but I read people in second tri complaining about rib pain, and think that maybe something is wrong with me!

Hey im having the same prob with my lil girl. She is way down low and i can feel her hiccuping just above my pubic bone. She gets them 5+ times a day! Im worried about her being so low but i know heaps of girls who carried their girls low and carried full term. My mum had 3 girls. I think i just need to understand every pregnancy is different and i cant base everything on my first

I'm having low kicks too - got a MW's appointment on Wednesday so I will ask then what it means. xxx

I am 32 weeks and waiting to feel high kicks. Going to obstrician in two days so I will ask her too if this is okay?

My LO still changes position a lot. Most of the kicks are quite low, but sometimes they're higher up. I don't think you need to worry about which way up baby is until nearer the end.

HI hun,

I get what I thought were low kicks, but when I saw my midwife she told me it was her hands that are punching me and she was head down!! Maybe this could be the case for you too?x

Thanks everyone. I hope everything is ok. It would be good to hear what a midwife says, I don't see mine until next friday but I will ask her then.

I'm not sure whether baby is in the wrong position, its just that I have NEVER felt movement above my belly button, not once. I'm glad I'm not the only one having low kicks.

Hopefully, like Kitabird said, its not something to worry about until closer to due date. At the moment the baby still has room to move...just not sure why it is choosing not to!

Hi, I'm peeping from 2nd tri as have been worried about the same thing!! Spoke to my midwife and she was not worried at all, I am measuring smaller because he is so low but and he is laying across very low down but I know he can move because if I prod higher up he will kick higher!!! My midwife said they don't worry till much further on and that some babies are a lot more lazy than others at exploring space etc x x

I felt kicks at 35 weeks up high. I hadn't felt them before because the baby hadn't turned! Now it has turned I feel kicks up high and little punches down low.

I don't think they worry if the baby is breech or not until after 35 weeks. I think I read somewhere that most babies are breech until about 30 weeks. Where I live, if it's still breech at 35, they do a scan and then might try to turn it. Mine has been kicking low and high and is back to low again, so I guess it tried head down and didn't like it! I was getting quite used to driving with a foot stuck under my ribs, but I expect it'll be back again soon...!

It probably depends on the country you are in and whether you are a private or public patient.

My ob said she would talk with me about options at 34 weeks if it was still breach (lucky for me my bump turned the night before this appointment). Ob said bumps usually turn between 27 to 31/ 32 weeks
