2nd degree tear? Help!!!?

Hi sorry wasnt sure where to post this. It's been 10 weeks since iv given birth and i had a pretty bad tear they said i was a stitch away from surgery! I feel ok 'down there' but it looks a mess like im still split... Just a huge gaping hole all the way down (sorry tmi!!) will it heal in time or will i need more stitches? please reply x

You really need to get it checked out. Go to your GP and they will need to have a look and possibly refer you to gynae department to get it sorted if it's that bad.

Did it ever get infected or anything, was it checked regularly following delivery?

Go and get checked out hun. I had a 3rd degree tear, the MW thought it was just a 3rd degree and was umming and ahing about maybe just stitching it herself. When the surgeon came to check me he found that it was much more significant, not just my perineum but up through my rectum and further. It is possible that the tear was worse than they though and you might need more stitches to pull the tear together. It can take a wile for some people to feel back to normal down there but 10 weeks seems like plenty of time to expect the tear to look like it has come together.

Iv just had a smear test done which really hurt she told me my stitches were fine i just have an erosion inside? Not sure what that means? She was quite dizzy and kept forgetting things do you think i should trust her? Iv not been sore it just looks like im more open than i should be x

I dont think iv had an infection iv not been checked since i was stitched x

Best thing you can do is get your GP to check it.
They will either refer you on if they think it's necessary, or at the very least, reassure you that it's ok.

Omg, I knew I shouldn't have read this thread. Eleanor you ripped right through to your rectum? My eyes are full of tears, that sounds horrific. We're these hospital births? Pain meds?

I'm terrified.

AW don't be scared! It sounds much worse than it was, to be honest I didn't really know I'd torn and recovery was quick and easy. I wasn't on pain medication when I tore but I had a spinal to get stitched (couldn't feel the stitching at all) and had pain killers for after. The only time it was really sore was when I had to move my legs to get checked and when the doctor put his finger up by butt to check inside (sorry, tmi! ). I was worried about tearing badly but it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be and I'm bit scared about it happening again
