I have posted similar in the second trimester but thought i'd try here too!

I am going for an appointment at the hospital tomorrow for a labour debriefing from last time. I am so nervous about it, I know i will cry, and I think they might make me have a VBAC when i have already got my head round having an elective c section after an emergency one last time and the trauma afterwards.
And now my OH cant come to support me- we were all going to go daughter aswell as we have nobody to look after her, but she has been sick today so he'll have to stay here with her.
Has anyone had one? Who is it with? What does it involve? x

I had a debriefing a few weeks ago.

It was with a senior midwife - she came to see me at home.

She had my file with all my pregnancy notes, labour / delivery notes and my postnatal notes. Everything is in there - including monitor traces.

She went through everthing with me. Explained what happened, why, and filled in any blanks I had.

She then went on to explain what effect my EMCS would have on any future pregnancies or labours.

I found the experience very interesting, informative and worth doing.

Thank you, thats very helpful. I am so nervous, more so now OH wont be there. I guess they are doing it to help me, and to look on the positive side of at least it cant happen again because it'll all be in my notes? x

I did feel more informed - we went through how I can avoid being caught in the "cascade of intervention" next time.

Let me know how it goes.

My midwife got hold of my notes to go through them with me after a really traumatic labour. I am also going to see the aneathatist (sp) tomorrow to discuss why the epidural did not take correctly. I had to have a general half way through my csec so need to discuss how to avoid this/get over the fear of this happening again should I have baby no.2.
Hope you get all the answers you need and don't worry about crying... I did... LOTS! x

I cried too - totally normal and I think it helps.

How did it go Scally? :hugs:

i thought i updated, god got to love pregnancy brain!

I am so confused with everything now! the MW was very pro VBAC, and spent the whole time convincing me of the dangers of another c section and the lack of dangers with a VBAC. She went through my daughters birth, a few things came up that i didnt realise, especially the timings of things, she also said it would have been impossible to push her out because of the position she was in, you have to wonder why i was then left for a further 6 hrs after they discovered her position and then tried to yank her out with ventouse!?? She kept saying i was favourable for VBAC as i got to the 10cm etc fine it was just her position. But when i said about my blood loss, scar etc she kind of glossed over that! They did say if I went for VBAC there will be closer monitoring and i wont be left as long as last time.
I dont get to see the consultant until 37 weeks to tell them my decision, seems very late! I am so torn now, I decided on another baby on the basis of having an elective c section, but they are so keen for me to try VBAC X

VBAC is really good for some women but don't feel under pressure. It is your body! Your decision! x

You don't have to wait till 37 weeks to see the consultant. The MW told me that alot of women don't realise they can request to see them sooner.

She told me to request (if not offered) a consultant appointment along with the 20 week scan. Then I would see the consultant again at 34 and 37 weeks.
