Hello,
Feeling rather flat at the prospect of having to deal with diabetes again during this pregnancy and was wondering if there was anyone else here who was experiencing the same? xx

Hi!

I had GD with my first pregnancy and am being tested this pregnancy. I had to test done at 17 weeks, all came back clear, but have another on the 6th Jan (around the same amount of weeks as with my daughter) so I am not really expecting to pass.

Am I nervous about it?
In a way yes, I dont like the idea of having to use insulin for the remaining 10 weeks. I dont mind being induced early, and if I have a date set, then I can organise child care for my daughter. So that is one positive I am holding onto.

What are your fears with it? Did you have a rough time/labour last time round.

You're not alone :hugs:

Thank you for replying. I had a failed induction (4 days long) which ended in an emergency c section and have never really got over it. I was diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder but because of timings/ work etc I never had the counselling offered. Just feeling anxious really. I know how to eat to get best results and have been carb counting and piling every meal with protein since I found out I was pregnant and at the mo my sugars are fine (was tested at 6 weeks). Thanks for the support x

Gosh that does sound like it was traumatic for you, although it does not mean each birth will be the same. I hemmeraged last time, lost 3 pints of blood. I am trying not to worry about it yet.

I had an induction, and it worked, so the same can happen for you. I think you have to get into the right frame of mind, which I know is probably difficult for you to do.

How far along are you? x

I had it from 8 weeks on (insulin required) with my twins so I've already started testing before 4 weeks this time.

I had it last time and was not surprised to be positive this time as well. Last time ds1 decided to come 10 days early so didn't have to deal with induction but his sugars did drop a bit. Colostrum got him sorted out though so we weren't in the hospital beyond the standard 2 days.

I am having a much harder time regulating through diet this time but I think it is a seasonal problem. Last pregnancy I just had to give up watermelon and ice cream but it was summer and grilling season so my diet was already protein packed. Winter I guess I tend toward rice and pasta and chocolates. Plus I feel like this will be my last pregnancy and I just want to enjoy what I'm eating. Add to that how busy this time of year is and it results in eating out a bunch.

At first I thought this would be easier because I had done it before but it seems harder if less scary.
