I'm 35 now, pregnant with first and I know that I can't wait to try again for my second. Not only am I feeling impatient due to age but am also hoping for a baby girl.

I know there is a recommended waiting period after each pregnancy. Some say 6 months, some say 2 years, yadda, yadda.

So my question to mom's over 35 who are in a similar situation, how long did you wait before TTC consecutive children?

My first is nearly 11 months and I started charting last month and unbelievably we struck gold first cycle. I'm 36.

We started to get broody for another when he was about 9 months old. My cycles started up again around that time, so that might be why.

congratulations, by the way. :flower:

16 months - cause DD was a nightmare sleeper - you do what is right for you :) Got my :BFP: on cycle 2 this time... DD will be 2 years and 6 weeks when number 2 arrives :)

I had my first at 33 (he took over a year to conceive), and I'll be 35 this fall so we only waited till my son was 16 months before we started trying again. We didn't know how long it would take, and we may want 3 kids. Luckily it only took 2 cycles TTC this time! My son will be almost 26 months when the baby is born :)

Over here they recommend 12 month if you have a vaginal birth and 2 years if it's a C-section before you should get pregnant again. I'm 39 and due with my first in 3 weeks time and don't want to leave it too long if we do decide to have a 2nd....and it's difficult knowing how long it'll take to conceive!

J22, thanks for that info! I haven't talked to a doctor about it yet. I'm glad to know the different recommended wait times between vaginal and c-section. That's really good information to have!

We didn't want anymore. Had sex once, trying to avoid, and I OV'd early that month and damned if once wasn't enough. I had my first at 36 and my 2nd at 39. They are almost exactly 3 years apart. If you are healthy, I don't see any problem in waiting as long as you want before trying again.

That's just it - I don't want to wait. I want to try again as soon as possible. I just don't want to worry about trying "too soon." At my age I think getting pregnant again too soon would hurt my body more than if I were ten years younger.

I put off pregnancy for so many years because I was waiting for things to improve around me but the situation just never got better, things never changed. I finally gave up after starting into a nervous breakdown over it. I spent a year "accidentally" screwing up my birth control before finally deciding that I what I wanted was to be pregnant. Now I'm regretful that I made myself wait! If I'd started when I wanted to I'd have a 2- to 3-year old and I wouldn't have to feel so rushed.

I had first at 35 and didn't get a strong desire to start all over again until he was 18 months. Took us 7 cycles for #2. Wondering already whether to have a third (we have no money!) and how long I can wait. I'm 38 now.

I had C-section, doc said 6 months to wait but we got pregnant when DD was 4 months, midwife is not at all concerned and neither am I.
