Curious to hear if this is 'normal' napping for an almost 5 month old. For the past week, her sleep has been approx

530 wake
730-8 nap
1030-11 nap
130-2 nap
630 bed

So it's been able 12.5 hours total. She was taking a bit longer naps before last week (or at least one nap was longer).

DD would only nap half an hour at a time until she was 6 months old! Then one day shenjist decided she was going to nap longer. Today at 15 months the longest she sleeps is an hour and a half at a time. Not great, but it does get better.

What really helped was to stick with the recommended wake times. Even if she's wasn't showing any tired cues if it was the end of the recommended wake time she went down. And she would sleep. I think it was a couple weeks of that before she was really fully rested and then started sleeping longer. She was chronically overtired.

My boy would only ever nap for 15-30 mins at a time once out of the early new born stage. Was on 3 naps until 5/6 months old when he dropped to 2. Then at about 9 months he dropped to 1 nap a day which is usually 45-60 mins long. He will have the odd day now and then where it is 1.5 hours.

My lo took forever to get into regular naps! I have a foster child 8 months older than my child and the older one will be a disaster if she misses her nap. My own lo could do all day without a nap if needed. I think all kids are different.

I believe the specialist say that the kids should be napping about 14-16 hours per day at that age. If your lo is behaving fine and walking up on their own then they are getting the sleep that they need.
