I saw my midwife yesterday and she said that i'll have to have another C-section.
this pregnancy was very much unplanned, plan was to wait till our boys were in school before trying for number 3.
Anyway i had an emergency section in feb 2013, planned section in feb 2014 and this one will be due in November.
what are the risk of having a 3rd section so close to my last two?
are the risks higher with having a 3rd section?

would love to hear your experiences good or bad, at least that way i can give myself plenty of time to prepare myself.

This is my first and I have no experience, but my sister in-law just gave birth to her son being her 3rd C-section. All went great no complications during pregnancy or anything.

that's good to hear. with my 1st I lost a lot of blood, with my 2nd lost barely anything, so this could go either way

Definitely agree that every section is different. Hoping your pregnancy and surgery go well. :hugs:

I have had four c-sections now. As you already know, a planned section is pretty different to an emergency one.

The only thing I found was that it took longer to get in there with each one. They had to deal with some adhesions that had got my bladder stuck to my uterus etc the last time. In terms of how I felt, it was pretty much the same after the initial 24 hours (two were general anaesthetic, two were spinal)

What risks do you mean when you ask about them being higher? If they were normal lower segment horizontal incisions then there shouldn't be much increased risk if any i would have thought. They go in at the same place, so it's not making it weaker or anything. It's just the adhesions that are the pain at the time.

:)

I just thought that with each section risks of infections and complications would be higher.

Ah right, I honestly don't know. My completely uneducated opinion would be that they wouldn't, but then it's never occurred to me to research that. I just kinda thought since they're just doing the same thing in the same place each time the risks would remain the same. I should maybe look into that if i'm planning another... lol!

Oooh i just did a bit of digging around and i'm glad you made me research this! Apparently, adhesions increase the more c-sections you have. I know I had adhesions last time because it took longer to get to my baby as they were separating my uterus from my bladder. They didn't say that it was bad or risky though, they just mentioned it during surgery to my husband. From what i can gather, stats say 24% of women have adhesions after their first c-section and by the 3rd and 4th this has increased to 83% of women. I guess I must have them now if i had them before. They've not caused me any outward bother except for pains sometimes when I sneeze in the wrong position. Only time will tell if it has affected my fertility.

oh gosh, that sounds quite scary, hopefully it hasn't effected your fertility.
I haven't had many problems so far with my sections, my last one I did have some break through bleeding in my section but I think that was due to a midwife making me get out of bed too soon.

I had a section in Feb 2013, one in March 2014 and might have one in October. I've had no pregnancy complications.

3 for 3 here too. Delivered in March 2013, July 2014, and last bubbs is planned for October 2015...if I make it to October lol but this will be the last one for our family.

It's such a conflict!! I want him here but I Want this pregnancy to last as long as possible since it's the last one ever!!

I had no complications either time. I actually felt it was easier to recover from the csection than when I delivered vaginally. My doctor wasn't concerned at all with how close they were although she did admit it would've been better to wait longer in between. Just for my body's sake.

From what I've read they like you to have at least 2 years for your body to heal before next pregnancy. Because of increased risks of you have them too close. But im sure that everything will be fine :)
