Hi everyone,

I'm going through what is likely to be my third early loss (between 5-6 weeks) in a matter of 5 months. Each loss follows the same pattern.. BFP around 10dpo and up until the time AF is due (yes I'm one of those that keeps testing to make sure), then the cramping starts, BFPs gradually fade and I get my 'period' around a week late. Right now I'm at the cramping/fading BFP stage with my 3rd successive pregnancy and although it's early (I can't imagine what it must be like to lose a baby later on in pregnancy ) I feel crushed.. I feel incredibly blessed to have a beautiful 2 year old son but I feel like I may never be able to complete my family..

GP is going to refer me for recurrent loss investigations if this one goes the way I suspect it will.. In the meantime can anyone give me any hope? Hearing your success stories after several losses is exactly what I need right now

Thank you..

Emma

I had 4 prior to having my son, similar story to yours, all testing came back ok and the only suggestion was to take baby aspirin after BFP, did the trick. DS is now 5 and DD is 4 (conceived when DS was 6 months as we assumed it would be a similar challenge to conceive #2!)

So sorry to hear this , I hope you're wrong and baby holds on- my story goes like this

Dd
Ds
Dd (died at 5 days old)
Dd
Ds
Ds (18 week loss)
Dd
Dd (15 week loss)
5 week loss
5 week loss
Twins (one lost at 7 weeks, the other born healthy)

So for me, all my pregnancy losses seemed to happen in one go. The last 4 happened within 6 months. Im not sure what was going on- just kept being told I was unlucky, I took Asprin in my last pregnancy and although we lost 1 baby, I have a beautiful little girl from that pregnancy. Always have hope x

Thank you for sharing your happy endings ladies and so sorry to hear of your losses.

LoraLoo - I can only imagine what it must be like to carry a baby to term and then to lose them  You must be made of some seriously tough stuff to carry on in the face of that kind of heartbreak- I am in awe of your strength..

I hear a lot about baby aspirin and also progesterone supplements on these forums; neither of which have even been mentioned by my GP as an option.. I'm not sure if this is because I'm in the UK and isn't our first line of treatment/prevention?

Ah thank you. Losing Eve is the worst thing I've ever been through but I'm still here, somehow xx

I'm in the uk too, I don't think they do the whole progesterone supplements here- not as standard anyways. However, the baby aspirin was recommended to me by the consultant and gp after my first loss on the basis that 'it won't do any harm, and may do some good'

All my tests came back fine ( we never got as far as attending the recurrent mc clinic as thankfully the last pregnancy was successful) but it was still advised to me, as well as higher dose folic acid (prescription only) which i also took in my last pregnancy.

I can't say if the aspirin helped, but I think it's worth a try and I'm very surprised it's not been mentioned to you x

Hi hun, I've just gone through my 3rd back to back loss since July which was ectopic and I lost my tube, big hugs being sent to you. My gp has also referred me to the rmc which I'm awaiting the appointment, neither baby aspirin or progesterone have being mentioned to me either, I've being tempted to buy natural progesterone cream and baby aspirin myself, but I'm such a worrier. So I don't have my success story yet, but I wanted to send many :hugs: xxx

It's so tempting isn't it?! You seem to get more information trawling the internet and speaking to other women who have experienced MCs than you do from your own doctor, its crazy. I have been seriously tempted with the baby aspirin but then I wouldn't know when to start/stop and I'm worried I'd get a right rollicking from my consultant when I am finally referred! I'm so sorry for your losses too.. mine have all been within a similar time frame (September to present) and the repeated heartbreak is awful. I hope we both get our happy ending.. please keep us updated with your referral? Sending hugs to you too :hugs: xxx

It seems theres regional variation as well as a bit of a split in professional opinion with regards to the baby aspirin? It just adds to the confusion. Are you currently expecting LoraLoo? I've just read Eve's story and am sat here typing through very bleary eyes- you are an inspirationally strong woman xxx

I sincerely hope not- my youngest is 15 weeks old 😃. Thank you for reading her story x

Thank you for sharing her story- may her legacy live on in the awareness you have raised.. She was beautiful and I'm sure you carry her with you in your heart every single day.

Congratulations on the recent arrival of your youngest :D xxx

I've had 11 losses but 3 rainbows despite my rmc issues.
My history:
MC 1-8 weeks
MC 2-9.5 weeks
MC 3-suspected BO#1, 7 weeks
DS (baby aspirin, progesterone)
MC 4-BO 8 weeks
DD (baby aspirin, progesterone)
MC 5-9.5 weeks
MC 6-BO 7 weeks
MC 7-14 weeks
MC 8-BO 7 weeks
LO (progesterone, baby aspirin)
MC 9-BO 8 weeks
MC 10-twins 8 weeks
MC 11-chemical 4.5 weeks

After my 3rd loss, I was diagnosed with progesterone issues and supplemented nearly every pg after that. After my 14 week loss, I had clotting testing done but it came back normal. After my twin loss, I requested further testing and I found out I am homozygous MTHFR C677T which causes low folate levels and bleeding issues. I tend to bleed in the first tri even with my successful pregnancies so this explains ALOT. I'm only sorry I didn't ask for the test sooner.

My story isn't rosy and it's certainly not fun to go through losses like this but I wanted to tell you that there is indeed hope. I've beaten immense odds three times and successfully made it to term so I'm hoping and praying it will be the same for you.

Wow Dairymomma I'm so sorry for your losses.. What a difficult journey you have had. Thank you for sharing your story.. I'm so happy to hear you've had three healthy babies despite it being a very bumpy ride to get there.. Stories like yours give me some hope. I do wish they would consider progesterone supplements over here as so many people seem to swear by them..

Just to update this thread I started bleeding this morning so this is, as I suspected, my third loss. Will contact my GP tomorrow :(

Im so sorry that your instincts were right 😔 x

They have been every time :( Did you just 'know' with yours? Equally did you feel more positive with the pregnancies that you carried to term? I wonder whether I'll ever feel positive about a future BFP.. xxx

I 'knew' with DS and DD but I didn't with LO. However, I didn't bleed with DS and I didn't have any complications with DD aside from a small bout of bleeding at 8 weeks so once I hit 12 weeks, I felt like it was clear sailing. That theory went out the window though with my 14 week loss and I haven't felt confident with any pregnancy since. Even with LO and seeing her hb every week wasn't enough to make me feel absolutely sure BUT I had threatened miscarriage symptoms from 5-11 weeks and it was the first time I got to 14 weeks after that loss so I was panicked for good reason. I think it was just such a complicated start to a pregnancy that I couldn't relax until she was born.

I will say though I've known with my BOs and my chemical that something wasn't right from pretty much the start and when the baby's hb stopped with my 14 week loss, I knew when it happened even though it wasn't confirmed for 3 more days. So I do trust my instincts to a certain degree for that reason.

Sorry for all the losses of everyone. OP I had 2 early losses last year and I believe it was a progesterone issue so I started taking vitex and conceived the next month and so far it has stuck.

I hope you get your rainbow baby very soon x
