I went yesterday to take my three hour glucose test to see if I have gestational diabetes. For one within minutes of taking it I felt very nauseated and sick to the point where I almost threw up.. I made it through the three hour test and went to eat. A few minutes following the finishing my meal, I got extremely hot and could feel my heart racing. My heart rate was at 118 beats per minute. After about 15 minutes it went back down to normal, but is that a common problem after the test or does that mean theres more of a chance of me having GD. I have felt my heart speed up and do this about 4-5 other times since I hit about 20 weeks pregnant, I'm 30 weeks now. And everytime I feel my heart race its always up in the 100s and it makes me dizzy and I feel a NEED to eat something asap. I wasn't sure if anyone else had experienced this. I told my doctor but he told me he coulsn't give me a definite answer until I had completed my 3 hour test becausr my 1 hour test my blood sugar levels were at a 175. Any comments would be extremely helpful.

With my first I got sick and fainted with my 3 hr gtt test. I passed that one with flying colors.

This time I felt fine during my gtt and was diagnosed as borderline gd.

So for me getting sick was good.

I had a HUGE drop at 3 hours (both in an official GTT- 5 hour and when I didn't eat after my 1 hour). I was so weak I could barely get up 3 hours after I had the drink for the 1 hour. I do have GD this time for sure and it can show that your body doesn't process glucose properly. I would ask for an endo referral even if it comes back as "normal" as most OBs have no idea about insulin resistance and that can be deadly for the baby.
