help!

I have tried switching bottles, slower teats, faster teats, upright position - winding often... etc

He gets into such a state some times its really stressful for both of us!

we use infacol at each feed and he is now clicking away with every suck like its not coming fast enough for him - but i moved onto a faster teat and he was just the same..

anyone have a clue whats going on?

we are using mam bottles as he didnt do great on the avent ones he made such a mess, im going to try him back on avent at next feed but im almost at my wits end and dread feeding him now

Has your LO been checked for a tongue tie? Clicking a classic symptom as they fail to maintain a seal around the teat with their tongue. MW can check if you ask. Good luck!

thanks - I have asked the health visitor about this and I am going to mention it to the GP at 6 week check

In the mean time we are using NUK bottles now as the teat is smaller and it has helped some what, however he is now taking ages to finish his bottle - i guess that's better than him getting into a state at each feed.

I was going to say this! Tongue tie isn't a 'breastfeeding' issue it is a 'feeding' issue and can affect weight gain etc. in bottle fed babies too.

Yup another vote for tongue tie here. My daughter did this on breast and bottle. Tongue tie wasn't picked up til she was 6 months old at which point we decided against the op as it had to be done under general. My son had the same problem and we got it fixed early this time. Such a simple procedure and makes a huge difference :)

saw the GP on friday who confirmed he has a small tongue tie but it shouldnt be enough to cause problems? anyway i asked to see a feeding specialist and I have an appt with them on the 12th - so im interested to hear what they have to say on it!

thanks everyone - it seems such a fight to get them to recognise this issue from what ive been reading!
