omg so I BF her for bout 25-30 mins and still crying : ( my nipples are both sore and hurt, my back has escrutiating pain...I dont wanna have to keep taking motrin everyday, that cant be good...I know she has a cold..is that maybe why shes fussy? I cant imagine her still being hungry after 30 mins...I just wanna give her formula cus im in pain about to cry ! i dont know what to do...im alone at home today

Oh hun it's so hard, I had trouble bf at first as it took 9 days for my milk to come in due to a difficult birth, during that time my daughter was crying constantly as she was getting very hungry and losing too much weight. To keep me sane I gave her 3 or 4 formula bottles just until I could carry on bf. I've bf ever since, it does sort out. Don't give up, just have a break maybe xx :hugs: xx

My daughter had an increase in feeding for about 10 days from 5 weeks, think it was a growth spurt

Aww, so sorry. It could be a growth spurt, like jess said. Or she could just have an upset tummy. Or it could be her cold like you said.

I'm sorry you're in pain. It does get better. Do you have anything to put on your nipples? Lanolin was my best friend for the first few months.

Try different feeding positions, especially if your back is hurting. Use pillows to raise her up to the right height so you aren't straining. If your nipples are sore still at 5 weeks it could be her latch needs adjusting. Make sure her mouth is nice and wide and taking in plenty of the areole around the nipple. Do the quick sucks at the beginning turn to deep swallows as the milk starts coming?

Just a few ideas. It does get easier!
