Just to give hope to some of you ladies who have been diagnosed at 20 weeks with marginal placenta previa (especially posterior) that mine has managed to migrate by my 36 week scan. Baby's head is almost fully engaged and placenta, which is posterior, has been well and truly shoved out of the way so can now hope and pray for a natural birth (last one was a nightmarish situation ending in emergency c-section).

Most exciting part now that I won't be having a scheduled c-section is when will I give birth - Christmas Day, Eve, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day...yada yada yada...... or will I just do what I did last time and go into labour on my due date 5th Jan - my daughter's 3rd birthday.

Either way YAAAY...... wishing you all the best of luck and hope that any troublesome placentas move for you XXXX:hugs:

:happydance: Good to know, I'm counting on mine moving up too.

That's wonderful news!
I have a posterior marginal previa as well. I'll be having an ultrasound in two weeks to see if it's moved. Fingers crossed!

Did they re-ultrasound around 28 weeks and still find it marginal? If they did, were you put on bedrest for any period of time prior to this scan?

I don't think there is normally a reason to go on bed rest when it's marginal. Complete placenta previa can require rest if it is making you bleed.

Good stuff! I have posterior marginal placenta previa too, I have no doubt it'll move but there's always that feeling of "what if"... :) X

I had my 30 week follow up u/s and my posterior marginal previa has migrated as well :)

At my 20 week scan I was only just scheduled another scan for 36 weeks, that was it. At 33 weeks I had one minor bleeding episode, which was just like a burst vessel which bled for a few seconds, bright red, hardly anything, then nothing..... I worried that may have meant the placenta was still in the way, however at 36 weeks it moved right up. I was never given any advice by anyone as to what to expect, what to do, what NOT to do, etc...just told to come back for a 36 week scan. I was never told anything about going on bedrest or the like. :flower:

great news girls! I was diagnosed with left lateral marginal previa at my 18.5 week scan. the OB was pretty negative about it saying I only had a 50/50 chance of migration but my family Dr thought the chances were better. I wonder if it's harder to move if it's lateral? either way I'm so happy for you ladies and hope I'm just as lucky. thanks so much for this post :)
