Hey ladies, Just got back from my 38 week appointment and was told I am 2 cm dilated and 60% effaced. Also told baby is head down and in position, at -2.
Do you think I am going to go soon? I would love to hear some of your input!
I have been having some contractions, period like pain. etc.
Also, what (other than walking and DTD) can I be doing to meet her!

I AM SO READY!
Also, ladies at 38 weeks, would love to hear how you are progressing!

I'm 37 wks tmrw and from what I have been told you can walk around weeks dilated and not go into labor sorry to say. You could still go overdue. Everyone is different so it's really hard to say what could or will happen.

I had my appointment yesterday and baby is head down but not in my pelvis at all! Funny as i do alot of walking daily lol. Carry on doing what your doing and i'm sure your little girl will be here soon x

I'm 2 cm, 50% effaced, and fully engaged. I have been losing my bloody show for over 24 hours now. I just went up and down the stairs 15 times and went on a long walk. Stuck in early labor. I'm miserable lol.

Just came back from my appointment, demanded to be fingered. And with all the BH, and period like cramping, I'm not dilated at all! And baby went back up in my ribs as if it's not hard enough to breathe for me, with a congested nose :(

unfortunately, checks are completely useless. How far progressed you are has absolutely NO bearing on when you'll go into labor, or how long your labor will be. My midwife doesn't even do checks.

I went into labor on my 38 week 0 days with baby #1...I walked about 4 or 6 miles and scrubbed the kitchen floor on my hands & knees. I wasn't even trying to induce labor, but that's what I was doing the night before my contractions started up.

Good luck!

I know I can't get my hopes up, but I am hoping it's not long. I have been going up and down the stairs a bunch of times and bouncing on the ball. I still have period like cramps, I just want something to happen! I feel stuck too!!!
Zemlianika- hoping it happens for you soon! Are you effaced at all? I have heard that dilation doesn't matter as much as effacement.
Fingers crossed for all of us

I feel your pain hun. At 35+5 I had contractions and my cervix was still really hard, long and not dilated at all! At my anomaly scan it was 6cm long FFS lol

My Dr. was on vacation last week, and the on call Dr. told me I was 50% effaced and 1 cm dialated. My regular Dr. checked me today, and now, apparently, my cervix is a zero. he does have huge fingers though. My exam hurt!!

I know that you can go for quite some time at 2 and even 3 cm dilated. My mom swears by two weeks at 3 cm at least. However with the contractions and pain, you may be stretching and thinning even more, so it may be sooner than that.
Last week at my 37 week appointment I was 3 cm and 80%, this week at my 38 week I am 4 cm, 80%, and -2, and I've had a lot of braxton hicks and cramps, so, progress!
I'm also looking for natural ways to help things along...I actually posted a thread about it, but someone posted this link, which was pretty interesting and worth checking out to try a few of the things... https://wrylilt.hubpages.com/hub/Ways-to-induce-Labour-Naturally Whether any of them work or not, several will be fun to try...my OH and I just tried #9 Chinese Food just because it sounded good. Haha.
Best of luck to you though, it won't be too long now I'm sure.

I'm the same! 2cm dilated 4/5 and at -2.... I still insist my boy will be late though.
Let's hope it's the start of something for both of us. X

Yeah I too, read that effacement and dilation doesn't mean that labor will begin anytime soon, my friend was dilated 3 1/2 cm, and 80% effaced yet still had to go get induced. But it was amazing how quick it was for her! I even went in right after she was cleaned up and she seemed like she hasn't even went through pain. Just sitting there smiling with her bundle of joy, her second child too. I went through agony with my 1st born, and I was induced and not dilated or effaced before going in. I've been STRESSIN' over the fact that de ja vu will repeat itself. I heard that second babies are easier, but I'm sure it's not the same for everyone. I've been depressed this whole week just thinking about it. I just want everything to go smoothly, and if I can get that guarantee from anyone in my family or from the hospital, I will probably stop stressin so much over it.

I'm there with ya... Had my appt today... 3 cm, 80% effaced.... Hoping she comes soon... Feeling tons of pressure down there. I feel like if I walk around too much, she'll slide right out (if only it was that easy, right? :) )
