This will be my 3rd (and final C-section) and im planning to have my tubes tied while they already have me open.
I know most women here are pregnant but im hoping 1-2 ladies might pop back in every once in a while to answer questions......
I deal with C-sections VERY WELL. To the point that with my last (2nd) baby they let me go home after only 2 days when its mandatory to stay for 3! and I have nurses coming in asking where mom is! LOL Im not trying to brag but day 2 after the section I don't need any meds and within a week im totally fine.
BUT....this time im also having my tubes done. Im wondering if anyone can tell me if im going to be in a whole lot more pain than just after a regular C-section?
Even if any of you *actually* know someone who 1-2 C-sections and then another one while getting their tubes done.

Im having my 3rd section in 3 wks & also requested sterilisation at same time. My 2nd section I was allowed home within 24 hrs of section. My consultant said it doesnt add any more pain or recovery time to just having a section. I cant confirm that yet tho.

I'm having my 3rd c section also however wednesday at my consultation I decided against getting sterilised. I did ask a lot of questions tho before hand and was told that it will be no different to how I recover from usual c section ,time of healing etc would be the same . x

I am having my third c-section in April. I will also be having my tubes tied. My mom had hers done after her 3rd c-section and she said the recovery was exactly the same as with the other c-sections.

I had my tubes tied on my third section in july 2012. That was actually my easiest recovery. I was up and walking around as soon as the spinal wore off. I had my baby early thursday morning and left saturday. It was the same amount of pain. Now I had forgotten how horrible my periods were before birth control so when I went to using nothing all came back to how they were in high school which was horrible. I went in last month and asked for a low, low dose of birth control just to make them a little lighter.

I'm having my 4th section on the 18th and having my tubes done, I will come I and let you know how it goes but not expecting any extra healing time :)

Did you doctor take any convincing or happy to go along with it?

It will be my second if I have a section but my 4th child and I want sterilised too.

I know this wasn't at me, but I had no problem with my Dr. agreeing. They actually asked me if I wanted it done.

I am having my 4th c-section in November or December.

I talked to my dr about getting my tubes tied as well.

My only concern is that I've heard rumors that it effects your breast milk, and that scares me because I really want to breastfeed my last baby.

I asked my OB about this, and he said this rumor is false. That I could successfully breastfeed if I get my tubes tied & that it doesn't effect breast milk. Has anyone heard of this being true or false?

Thanks, the reason I specifically picked who to ask was because I wanted a UK perspective, but it's encouraging to here that you were asked. I perviously enquired about sterilisation before I got pregnant and was told no but hoping it will be different after 4th baby! Not that this baby wasn't wanted, it very much is, but 4 is enough.

Hi, sorry for the delay but I had an emergency section on wed! All went well no more pain than expected! As for asking the drs for tubal ligation, they were happy for me to make the desks ion so hopefully your dr will be the same! Good luck :)

I'm in the UK and they agreed it, they asked a few questions like what if I changed my mind in a few years or something was to happen to my children but if you make it clear that your serious they should listen x

I'm in the UK, was 24 when I had DS2 and they asked me when I was waiting to go to theatre whether I would like to be sterilised at the same time, I said no obviously and cant believe its routine to ask so close to the csection and give people 5 minutes to decide but they said now after 2 csections or more they have to ask if you want sterilised due to the risk being greater with each c section. Hope that helps.

Congrats OP :flower:
