This is not a thread to make people wrong for smoking, so please don't give anyone a hard time if they smoke! This is only a thread to make everyone aware of 3rd hand smoke which has recently been discovered. Just posted link to this article in the smoking thread, but wanted everyone to see it

Here's the article: https://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/03/health/research/03smoke.html

It's important that if you used to smoke indoors to get carpets, furniture and walls cleaned (and repainted-the walls). Again this isn't a thread about making smoking wrong, only to pass on new information.

Thats why I only smoke when my baby is being babysat and im out drinking with friends. I come home and change clothes , take a shower and all ..

Never smoked in my house and never will ..

We've never smoked in our house either. We repainted, laid all new flooring everything when we moved in our house and haven't smoke in it a lick :D I can always tell when I walk in somewhere where there are people smoking/have smoked.. it always smells badly of it. :(

I agree it does smell bad , our ex-friends have 2 children who were exposed to lots of 1-2-3rd hand smoke , nothing has been seen yet in there health but it will one day.. there house is full of ashtrays and ashes and it stinks of bloody hell in there ..needless to say I have not stepped foot in there since having max

I went to my Uncles house the other day, luckily I left Colton in the car because my eyes were watering when I left there. He was the only one there at the time, but they have three kids (9, 6, and 20 months) and I feel bad for them :( They smoked outside when their littlest was a baby, but once she got to about 8-9 months they stopped and started smoking around her.. I thought, whats the difference? It's still going to affect her the same?! Weird

We live with my DH's mom and his dad lived here too but died when Kathryn was 3 months old. He always smoked in the house, he never believed us when we said that is was terrible for Kathryn's health. Even when Dh's mom bought a filter for his office (where he smoked) he wouldn't put it on when he was smoking because it was "too loud." I have no idea how it may effect her (because I was around the smoke when I was in my 3rd too-I had no choice), but we've cleaned everything since he died. I try not to smoke now, but sometimes I just need one (like if Kathryn's been whining all day) and if I do I wait untill she's asleep, go outside to smoke, throw my clothes right into the wash, then hop in the shower. It's such a hassle that I don't usually bother anymore.

LOL! Good for you!

this is the only bad thing about smoking bans, there are always crowds of people outside pubs and cafes smoking, I went mental at a guy in Glasgow one day cos he was so close that a bit of fag ash went on my pram :hissy:

Yep he was one scared man after I'd had my mouthful, he probably stopped smoking!
