4 mo old pattern & dry nappy

My 4 month old seems to suddenly be nursing a lot less than before. We had a day of cluster feeding recently then the past few days seem like she would refuse to feed. Cry when I offer her the breast and refuse. Sometimes I think she's hungry (sucking on her hand/fingers) and as soon as i put her in my lap and offer her the breast she would cry and refuse it. Can't tell if something hurts or maybe she's not hungry?

When she does feed she doesn't spend that long doing it. Couple of minutes only.

Normally I'd just say maybe she's feeding more efficiently except on maybe 2 occasions her diaper was dry after having changed it 2+ hours ago.

A bit of extra info: I use nipple shields and have been trying to use them a lot less. For the past week I nurse without them maybe 50% of the time. Could this be related to what's going on? Is she hungry or just decreased appetite?

My son decreased his feeds also around the same age and like your LO, his wet nappies were not as frequent but he's fine.

Chewing on hands can be either hunger or teething and at 4months, I would probably go with teething. Maybe try the teething powder from boots and see if that makes her more settled.

Keep an eye on her fontanelle and if that seems dipped, then she maybe dehydrated and needs more fluids or medical attention just to double check x

I do suspect she's teething as she's been chewing on her gums especially the bottom ones almost all day. She's also very grumpy. But I'm very worried as she went 4 hrs with no dirty diaper and still on going. She's fed a few times in the past few hrs and no pee.

I can't tell if there are any changes in her fontanelle and she does have a lot of hair.

We are going to the dr for her 4 month jabs anyway and I'll ask for advice.

My LO is 17 weeks today & all of a sudden 3 days ago she has started cutting her feeds from 30mins to an hour to 5/10mins. I was worried but have been told by bf specialist that this is normal for her age. They become more efficient at getting milk out.

LO has also been a bit fussy at the breast but I think she is teething I've tried a teething powder which has stopped the fussing this evening.

Her nappies haven't changed though if anything they have become wetter.

Did you speak to the doctor?hope all is ok

My dd is 4 months today and acting the same way. She constantly is chewing on her hands or her Sophie. When I think it is time for a feed she makes herself stiff and starts crying. She has also gone an entire night already without wetting a diaper. I am starting to think she is going through a wonder week or something..

Teething has definitely made my lo feed less. He is also very distractable at the breast so his feeds are very short at this point. But because of the dry diapers I would keep a close eye and definitely mention it to the doctors. How often does she poop?

She pooped regularly before. As for wet diapers sometimes she would go 5 hrs but it wasn't frequent that this happened. Just freaked me out that she went 12 hrs this time. She hasn't gained much for a month now so I've decided to combi feed.
