My 4 mnth old Baby usually smiles a lot n is happy around parents, nanny n grandparents.. Today introduced him to the neighbors fr the first time n he just either kept staring or was disinterested..I am confused if this is normal or not..I thought babies r supposed to b social around this time :(

Definitely not in my experience. :haha: At 4 months old my LO was pretty much at the height of her anti-socialness... she would scream and cry if anyone dared to even look at her, pretty much. So I really wouldn't be concerned about just looking disinterested.

That's all my toddler did at that age. I think she was taking in everything around her. She rarely smiled at people she didn't know. Heck, she didn't even like smiling at us lol. I'd say it's completely normal. My toddler is 19 months now and will flip out if someone looks at her sometimes, lol.

DD1 would literally scowl at people if they smiled at her at that age- she is 3 now and still does that  DD2 doesn't scowl, but she is a super smiley baby and seems a bit cautious when it is a stranger. She might smile back at times, but usually only with the people who really persist and keep trying...and sometimes she just won't do it at all with someone she doesn't know!

my baby is 4 months on Monday he is selective with who he smiles for and even then he likes to make people work for it... lol

My LO tended to only smile at people he knew. By that age they are aware enough of what's going on to know who's new and who isn't.

My LO started crying when she met someone new- she would even start to cry at family if she hadn't seen them for only a week! Luckily it only happened a few times and she got over it, she is now a happy little 5 month old who smiles constantly :)

My LO just screamed at everyone at 4 months! She wasn't sociable at all

Thanks guys...I am a ftm..looks like me just bring paranoid.. :|
