My daughters cord fell off on its own at around 2 weeks, hv was suprised how it was healed so quickly. Now at 4 weeks old it looks red and keeps gets a little crusty. Im away at my mums so will go.drs on monday but anyone else experienced this?also she has a sore bum, started 2 weeks ago and after a few days it was 3 small raw patches of skin, dr gave her thrush stuff which made it worse so he said to stop and go back to normal cream. Have.been giving naked time etc but it is still raw skin, she isnt overly fussed by it any ideas?

I can only give my experience on the belly button, not sure if it is something similar though .

My boy's cord came off at around 2 weeks as well. It kept scabbing over and over in the spot where the cord was. Eventually something that looked like a tiny ball of pink flesh emerged.

I looked it up online and it turned out to be an umbilical granuloma. It eventually shrank down on its own, it did take a long time though. He had it until he was 2 months old.

Mine's umbilical cord fell off quite early too, and took a couple of months to fully heal. We just left it alone and it got there in the end.

If it doesn't heal properly, they might cauterise it, but it will probably be fine.

Mine also had two or three little patches of raw skin around her bottom when she was really small! They were shiny and red and looked like the flesh was poking out of the skin in places, it was horrid. Nothing helped, and then Sudocrem cleared it up within five days.

Thanks Meep, took her to walk in clinic near my mums this morn as her belly button looked awful and they gave her some cream to put on.
That sounds just like my dd's bum, so sore looking and sudocrem isnt clearing it. Everyone has recommended sudocrem but its not doing the trick here. My other 2 never got nappy rash,i feel so awful for her

Urgh, yeah, I got very upset about it too and felt like it was all my fault! I also thought it would never go away, in my frazzled new mum state!

She hasn't had nappy rash once since it went away though.

Have you tried Metanium? A lot of people swear that it is amazing. It didn't work for us, but if Sudocrem is no good, maybe it would work for you?

I sweared by metanium with my other 2 children, on the very rare occassion they got a rash metanium cleared it up right away but not this time 😞 its been nearly 2 weeks of lathering more creqm on then usual and nappy off time but still red raw.

That is unusual. And obviously not fungal, otherwise the thrush treatment would have helped ... unless it doesn't cover all types of fungus, such as ringworm, etc.? Ringworm is a very distinctive rash though.

I guess you just have to persevere and hope it improves. :/ Stupid that doctors can't ever seem to get anything right.

Are you using the Sudocrem everyday use nappy cream in the tube or the pot? We used the pot.

Its deffo not ring worm. I think she had a reaction to some new wipes we used 1 day at my mums which resulted in the sores. Yep tub of sudocream every day, every change. It actualltly bleeds when i pat it dry 😞 still at my mums until hubby picks us up friday so straight bck drs on monday. Didnt think to mention it at wlk in drs as already had to mention the sticky eye she picked up from her 2yr old sister and the red belly button 😂 out of all 3, this little lady has seen the dr more in her 4 weeks of life then the others (aged 2and3) have in their whole life haha.

Just glad it doesnt seem to bother her and she is still a smiley baby 😊
