She is awake from 1-5am, she seems very restless at night and wont sleep in her moses basket, she seems like she has wee pains in her tummy and is wide awake if I put her down. She will sleep in my arms but I dont want to fall asleep with her in bed. I am BF and she usually feeds every 3 hrs and will sleep in between feeds during the dya but night is totally different. Once she goes down about 5am she wil sleep until about 9. IS it just a matter of getting in a better routine?

Could she have colic? Or trapped wind?

None of mine slept well as newborns at night, although of a day then they'd sleep through anything

Caitlyn didn't sleep at night for the first 5 weeks, then she suddenly switched x

Maybe she's still not quite sure about the difference between night and day?

During the day have you had the curtains open/lots of noise/play/visitors/going out etc etc? I managed to get Harry to understand the difference by doing lots with him during the day like playing with him, picking him up more, passing him around to visitors etc and making sure the curtains were open, windows open, lots of noise.... then, at night it's very quiet, very little light in his nursery (if at all sometimes if he's figetty), no talking. Stuff like that may be worth a try if you haven't already. Not that i'm an expert mind! I've got my own problems ha ha!

Ellie didnt sleep very well for the first 6 weeks either she hated being in the moses basket she'd constantly get up so in the end i kicked OH out of our bed in to the spare room and she came in with me lol not ideal though but it worked.

At that age they are still adjusting to the world and needing to feed all the time; most newborns don't sleep well at night. Have you tried swaddling?

She's still quite young-Lauryn was like this til about 6-7 weeks, always seemed more awake at night than during the day. She'll get the difference soon. I think maybe about this age i stopped putting her in her moses basket for naps during the day, don't know if this helped or if it was just coincedince.

I did exactly the same

mine was quite the same, very restless at night, so i decided to co-sleep

4 week olds don't sleep at night. Infact, most babies get up at night several times well beyond the first year. Ofcourse, there are those kids who do sleep at night, but they are actually rare according to research.

Hi there, the sleeping will eventually come,it's strange for them at first i am sure it will settle down for you. My son is 9 months old and hasnt slept for longer than 10 mins a night.... Hope it works out for you x

I know the feeling hun! LeeAnne refuses to sleep at night unless it's in my arms! It can be sooooo frustrating!! The minute she's fast asleep in my arms and I put her down shes WIDE awake and wanting to be held again!
During the day she sleeps like a charm! Hopefully it's something they outgrow soon so we can get at least a few hours of sleep!

Snap ...

I just think they know when they hit the moses basket lol ,Its like an instant wide awake i aint sleeping mode lol ...

Im only on Night 3 and pulling my hair out, The putting the finger in the basket and holding his hand trick is working so far tonight .. Il see how long that lasts lol . x .
