how much milk is it normal for a 5month old to drink throughout the day, i make leyla up 5 x 9oz bottles, thinking she'll take what she wants and leave the rest, but she doesnt usually leave any lol, maybe an oz at her last feed, is this much milk normal? on the aptamil packet it says she should only be on 35oz!

x

Scorpio's little girl Renah always drank quite a lot and was up to 50 ounces at one point I think? She was advised to wean early because of the amount of formula she was having. Have you talked to your doctor about it?

no i cant cos im in turkey atm at my mams house, i was thinking im gna have to start weaning her pretty soon though cos it seems she wants more and more milk every day!

i know the feeling, i'm in the same boat as you. jayden is on 6 x 8oz bottles a day -48oz a day and has been for almost 2 months! hes 16 weeks on wednesday and i'm going to start him on some baby rice. x

When you return I would pop and see LOs HV x

yeah hun would say weaning...i started weaning jayden at about 3 months/3 an a half...even now he will have like 7 scoops of breakfast cerial and eat every bit full jar of food for dinner then a 9 oz bottle then another full jar then 1 or 2 more 9 oz bottles depending on the time...looks like the bigger jars coming for me soon ( hes also been on the 2 nd milk for hungrier babies since a week old..have you tried that? xxx

I agree I'd speak to your HV about early weaning. Izzy was a hungry baby and she'd want more and more milk but would throw the extra ounces back up cuz it was too much fluid! Started weaning early and it really helped fill her up without all the milk sloshing around her inside - lol x x

We weaned early hun because Alfie was taking up to 60oz of expressed milk in a day.

He now takes around 45oz of formula plus 2 meals and snacks!!!!!!!!

We started weaning just over a week ago and Alexander has already dropped a bottle. He was getting up there too and I figured it would be in his and my best interests to have him eat some solids rather than drink so much and spit up.

That is alot of milk, are you giving her plenty of water? just thinking with her being in a hot country it could just be thirst rather than wanting milk? not sure though hun x

Paula is right ... has she all of a sudden upped the oz's since youve been away?

Some babies are just big milk drinkers, some arent. Doesnt necessarily mean they need weaning. Wont do you any harm in giving her a try though hun
