Hello all,

I just had a baby in May of this year and am thinking about having another in the near future. Maybe once Lyric turns 2 BUT I'm wondering, anybody that has had to have more than 3 c-sections, were your doctors skeptical about doing it? Did you find it hard to get someone to see you? AND did they suggest tubal ligation afterwards?

Just looking for a little insight and CONGRATS TO ALL THE NEW MOMMIES AND MOMMIES TO BE !!!! :hugs:

im having my fourth csection an to be honest they didnt bat an eyelid about it being my fourth one at all they have asked me if id like to have my tubes tied afterward but they ask everyone wh has had more than two sections that question i said no and they didnt say anything more about it they did say after my fourth one though that the risks will increase and also the longer you wait between sections the better really which makes sense lol x

Right there with you miss cakes. I had a Tubal ligatoin and tubal reversal and my OB who has delivered all my other children also was like what the crap are you worrying about!! I am perfectly healthy as is our baby girl and that is what matters.

I have had 4 c/s!! Haha. Infact, my 3rd and 4th sections were only 11 months apart. If you are a low risk healthy patient it can be safe. But issues can come up in a primary c/s or the.12th. I was worried about it...scared I may go preterm or even split open my uterus in the 39th week. But all was fine. The recovery was the same. The only thing that hurt worse was the contractions after the surgery (uterus contracting down to size) but thay was just from a 4th baby...not due to the way they were delivered. Good luck!

hi ive had 2 and want another baby, been 2yr 8mth since my last section.i really wish i had such a positive attitude as yourself, i could kick myself for worrying myself to death all the time..it spoils things

I'm about to have my 5th baby, 4th section. Dr didn't bat an eyelid. I'll admit I've occasionally thought about ruptures etc but I'm not worried.

Hi

I will be having my 6th section in May. Dr. asked if I had put any though into when my family will be complete and suggested I think about having my tubes done this time. They ask this question routinely to anyone who has had more than two section but they can not force you to do anything you are not happy with.

I was in doubt during my 5th pregnancy as to whether we would like more children or not and because I couldn't honestly say "ok, this will be our last, we decided against tubal. This time however we have already decided that this will be our last little bundle of joy so I have asked for tubal to be done. It is a very difficult decision to make so unless you are 100% sure you definitely don't want anymore children don't do it as although reversals can be done, they are not always successful and according to by ob they are expensive.

The only thing that puts me off is the failure rate of 1 in 200. And if you do fall pregnant the risk of ectopic pregnancy is high.

I too was worried about getting someone to see me particularly after so many section but the ob I seen didn't seem all that worried. Of course risks increase the more sections you have and it is only natural to worry. But if you want another child a section is the only option available for delivery when you have already had multiple sections.

I had my 4th section almost 5 months ago. I asked my gynae before falling pregnant, and she was 100% on board with it. My uterus did stretch unbelievably thin though towards the end, so the dr commented during my sterilisation (at my request) that it was good I got it done, since my uterus shouldn't carry any more babies. I don't think it was just due to my 4 sections. I had multiple infections in it and almost needed a hysterectomy after my first baby. So the uterus has been through allot. I would've easily done it all again to have this 4th baby of mine. She's been worth it!!

what a lovely post, love reading positive stories like this.:happydance:

This will be my 4th section. I was surprised that the consultant or midwife have mentioned tubal ligation at all.
I expected that they would to be honest.
I think I will ask at my appt next week when I see my consultant.
