After trying for years to get pregnant, going through fertility treatment, it failing, we got pregnant, the pregnancy was a rocky road and my son had been born at 33weeks so I assumed I would go early....

23rd August 2012:

My waters broke at 10:30am after sitting down to watch come dine with me, being only 35+6 I was still a little worried, I shouted on Mother in law and said my waters had broken which I knew instantly they had because I did have a gush moment, luckily enough I had a pad on. So didn't ruin the sofa. My partner was still in bed as I wanted him to get a rest as none of us had been sleeping to well so ran up to wake him, almost scared him half to death, called the maternity assessment and told them we were on our way in.
left at 10:50am and got to the hospital just after 11am.

we went straight to maternity assessment were they did a trace of baby and checked my cervix although I wasn't really dilated or that my waters had broken and water was coming out (how lovely) they gave me first dose of antibiotics and gave me some fluids, I had an antenatal appointment and scan booked for that day so they sent me for the booked scan.

At 2pm I sat in the scan department trying not to leak through the pads I had it was pretty funny, they did a scan and see baby was doing well and that I still had some waters left. Was sent up to the ward. On the way back to the water I lost the rest of my waters and looked as if I’d had a terrible urine accident I was sooo red it was rather funny indeed. We waited on the ward, was having some slight pains but nothing major, we waited on the doctor who came and told us that they would keep me in and keep an eye on me and let labour progress naturally....

The doctor came back about an hour later and said they wanted to induce me so had to wait for a bed to become available on the labour ward. At about 7/8pm we were sent to the labour ward. I was put on a trace and they noticed that my heart rate was through the road but baby was doing really well. Still was having some light contractions but nothing major, they wanted baby to be born within 24hours of my waters breaking so they wanted to get my stable and then get labour started.

At about 9pm they inserted the cervix softener, which had me getting mild contractions every 5-7mins and lasting about 40seconds they were capable and I used my birthing ball a lot. Both I and other half were mega tired and uncomfortable. By this point I had actually been away for about 2 days. After was given the insert, the doctors said they would be back at 3am to check me over see how things were going. I was about 2cm not long after the insert. The pains were regular and I tried to keep active and rest when I could.

At 3:50am the doctor came back and decided to check me over, I was about 4cm by this point. My heart rate was through the roof again, so got more fluids and antibiotics and they tried to keep an eye on baby but she seemed to be coping really well....

after my heart rate refused to come down, the doctor decided she wanted to put a cap monitor on baby's head to check her heart rate, she tried about 4 times in that time never getting the cap on only irritating my uterus and hurting me, I was almost crying because baby wasn't even engaged or that so she was trying really hard. But never got it and gave up in the end, after almost an hour trying to get it on she left me to it and left me in pain :( I was crying because was so unpleasant, that actually jump started my labour

About 2hours after she had gone my contractions were coming hard and fast and I was becoming unable to cope with them, I was very very tired and ready to give up. my partner was soo scared because I was in so much pain, I was hoping my tens machine would help but sadly it did not, whatever the doctor had done had really caused me to progress very quickly. Within 30mins I went from 4cm to 10cm and was not dealing to well... my partner actually asked if i could get something to help with the pain.

At about 7am they gave me something IV wise which I pushed a button and it helped take away the pain for 20seconds, sadly I wasn't pushing the button right and actually didn't get very much of anything.

By about 8am I was really feeling like I had to push, but felt like I was getting nowhere, being honest I just wanted to run away to the toilet lol. I pushed and pushed but felt like nothing was happening....

after pushing for an hour I was getting tired and they were talking sectioned, but I refused to be sectioned and somehow even though I was tired as hell I managed to keep pushing, at about 9:20am she was getting so close, they then noticed she was back to back and said that was why I was finding it soo hard, my partner was working so hard to keep me going working between holding my leg and giving me water, he was a god send although he was scared as hell... he actually watched baby being born.
At 9:30 she was just crowning.....

At 9:37am with one huge last push my daughter whole body slid into the world!
