So saw little bub. Measured ok (LMP was 6 weeks 5 days, so 1 day behind, though doctor said that was fine). But.....

Heartbeat was 111 bpm. Is this slow?

Had a subchorionic hematoma measuring 2cm by 1.5cm. Am I going to lose my baby?

:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

Wow our stories are similiar! I had my u/s at 6 weeks 1 day, and measured a day behind. The HB was 105. The tech said it needs to be at least 100 in week 6, so sounds like your bub is great!

I also had a subchorionic hematoma! But mine is HUGE! 5cm x 3.5 x 2.5. I've been worried sick I am going to lose my LO but here we are 3 weeks later and my latest ultrasound showed no change to the bleed and baby measured 2 days ahead! I haven't had any bleeding or cramping so I'm starting to think this baby might be here to stay!

Yeh, no bleeding or spotting either. I only found out about the hematoma because of the scan.

Rafferty, what prognosis did your medical professional give you?

I had a dating scan a couple of weeks ago and at 6+1 the HB was 115--I was told anything over 100 is good, so your bubba's HB is in the good range!

As for SCHs, they are actually very common and don't always cause you to spot. It depends on the location and size of the SCH. Sometimes your body will absorb the bleeding and you will never spot, other times you may spot/bleed. And most SCHs resolve on their own without any need for intervention or harm to the baby.

I had a decent sized SCH with my last pregnancy at about 8 wks. I started bleeding and was panicked that I was losing my baby (I had suffered a m/c in the pregnancy prior to that). The SCH was found and diagnosed as the source of the bleeding. Baby was just fine. The SCH cleared up on its own by the next scan at 12 wks, and I gave birth in October 2011 to a beautiful and healthy baby girl!

So I would try not to worry. You have a baby with a good HB and if the SCH was any threat, I am sure your doctors would have told you.

:hugs:

Both my son's heartbeats where I the 110's at seven weeks, and they were born healthy and happy! This pregnancy the baby was 111 at 6w, and the doc said that was fine

Cyna- my doctor didn't really give me a statistic or likelyhood of miscarrying. I'm on pelvic rest and I'm not supposed to pick up more than 10 lbs and supposed to rest when I can. Since the bleed didn't grow the doctor is fairly optimistic everything will be fine. I'm having scans every 2-3 weeks till it resolves.
The other good thing about my SCH is that it is far from the placenta and I think that is a bigger indicator of how much risk there is of m/c.

Will you be having anymore scans?

Doctor said mine was below the fetus and closer to the cervix. She said that that is the best place for it to be. So if it is ejected, it won't interfere with the baby. Next scan is in 10 days.

Still no spotting. Is no spotting bad, since the blood does not get a chance to escape?

My doc says no spotting is good. Maybe your sch is getting reabsorbed! I just had an ob appt. We got to hear the heartbeat and the Dr says I'm at a very low risk of miscarrying. I'm so relieved. And ill have another ultrasound next week just to see if the sch decided to shrink...still no bleeding for me either!

No spotting is perfectly fine and normal for some SCHs. Back when I had my SCH, the doctor told me that some women never bleed and the body simply absorbs it. That is quite possibly what is happening for you.

Good luck with your scans, ladies, I will be thinking of you! :flower:

Morning sickness is really picking up. It was a 9 out of 10 last night.

Ok - One more question. As it turns out (I got the first scan's picture today via email), the SCH looks kinda weird. Normally a SCH is a clear black bubble on the scan. Mine came across as pruned and wrinkly. What could this mean?

I am not 100% sure. I do know that it is a blood clot, and clots can sometimes appear wrinkly/collapsed if empty. Perhaps yours no longer contains any blood and is healing? I would ask my gyn/md.
