hi guys. am a bit confused. i did an ultrasound and the report i got read

bulky gravid uterus with an intrauterine gestational sac. Fetal pole yet to appear measurements 9 mm..
is this normal
i dont understand stand it. am yet to take it to my doctor...

ladies please help..
am only 6 weeks were they not supposed to see a heartbeat???

I couldn't find anything on the internet about when the fetal pole should be evident in ultrasound. What I know from my own experience is that the heartbeat should be detected by 9 weeks and that an enlarged gestational sac can be a marker for problems, although there is controversy on what defines "enlarged." Also your hCG should appropriately double in your first trimester, so blood tests at least 48 hours apart would be a way to verify what is going on.

Basically what I'm saying is that your doctor is going to tell you that you'll need another scan at a later date, probably in a week, to see if they see any change (growth of the gestational sac or a fetal pole with a heartbeat). If they see nothing next week, they will probably say to come back again in a week and if there is still no change they will give you options for medical management. It's all a waiting game! Ultrasounds are interesting. In your case, there just isn't enough information to know. There have been women who haven't seen anything at 6+5 and then in week 7 suddenly a fetal pole and heart beat show up. So just stay positive. There IS a gestational sac, so that is a good thing!

You may have ovulated a little later and you may not be at six weeks yet, fingers crossed all is good for you

thank u ladies.. i will update you on Monday. you have certainly put my mind at ease. thanks once again
