So we weaned at 4 months (due to rapid weight gain had to reduce milk n fit in lower calorie food) on a peadiatritions advice and until a few days ago my little boy was happily being spoonfed 3 meals a day with finger food. Only now hes refusing to be spoonfed but desperate for the finger food. Obviously wat hes eating finger food wise is no where near the quantity i was spoonfeeding him. So he is still hungry.
Any advice on wat i should do?

Have you tried loading the spoon and letting Lo feed himself?

Does he still need the low calorie diet or could you increase his milk a bit in between finger food to keep him going?

Also food like yoghurt and porridge (and I assume pureed food) is really easy to start LO on self feeding with a spoon. Could you try some of the finger food dipped in the puree, like toast fingers, pitta fingers, cooked carrot sticks, cucumber sticks etc.

ive tried preloading the spoon n giving it to him he does get it into his mouth eventually. will try the purees on different things.
I think he just wants to be mr independent and do it all himself.

I'd just keep helping him with the finger foods if that's what he wants to do. Have you heard 'food before one is just for fun'? Milk should still be the main nutrition source for your LO so I agree with the pp, perhaps increasing his milk feeds while he's getting used to feeding himself would be a good option. x
