At 6 months old my lil man was 19lb. And only on formula, so my health visitor suggested I put him on solids. He has started teething and has become really funny with his bottles. Here is his routine.

7:30am 7oz bottle of formula, but now will only have between 5-6ozs.
Breakfast at 8

12:30 dinner and pudding. He will only have about 1 oz water. He won't drink squash

5pm tea and pudding. With again 1 oz water.

730pm. Between 5-7 oz of formula.

Is this enough formula for him?... If anyone is around while I giving him a bottle he won't have it. He won't have formula after his meals, that why I give him water.

Someone has said about offering him follow on milk about 1-2 hours after he has eaten a meal. What are you babies eating habits like.

I thought it was the other way round and offer milk first, as its supposed to be their main source of nutrition for the first year, then follow up with solids? And you're supposed to have like at least 21oz of milk a day?

My LO is a girl, and weighs 19lbs at 6m... Milk is like her heroine. Even if she's in her high chair and she's eating solids, she will start screaming for her milk.

We have absolutely no routine with her, so I just let her lead me to what she wants. Sometimes though, she is like a fish and won't stop eating solids... And I have to cut her off... But I always make sure she gets her 20ish oz of milk at least, and she gets as much milk as she wants.

my 7 months routine is
6-7oz bottle @ 5am
brekkie with 2-3ozs milk @7am
6-7oz bottle midmorning
lunch n pudding with water @ 1130
6oz bottle mid-afternoon
tea n pudding @4pm
8oz bottle at bed @ 6pm

most days he drinks most his bottles

after 6 months they need between 18-21ozs milk a day that includes whatever is in food etc. if he wont drink much milk try adding formula to his meals etc

No that is not enough milk, they need to have a minimum of 20oz until 1. You should be giving milk first and then food after.

At 7 months Niamh would have

8 oz bottle at 7.30

Readybrek made with milk 8.30

Snack around 10.30 usually fruit

Lunch at 12.30

8oz bottle at 3

Tea at 5.30

8oz bottle at 7.30-8.

I echo what the others have said, offer milk first before food. I tend to leave a two hourish gap inbetween food/milk. Our day is something like this:

6/6.30am-8oz formula
7.30am- one weetabix with 3oz formula, sometimes banana too
10.30am-offer 8oz formula, he usually takes at least 4oz or more
12ish lunch-mashed veg mostly, sometimes snacks like baby rice cakes too
2pm 8oz formula
4.40/5pm dinner-mashed veg, fruit for after
5.30/6pm 8oz formula

Then he's asleep for the night...this works for us and he gets at least 21oz of formula a day, usually a lot more than 21oz actually,

Thankyou ladies,,,
But I just can't get him to drink more formula.

Hi all!

Background: Ok, so I have an insanely picky drinker or milk who we've always had to fight to drink. And then even then she sips. She's never taken anymore then 4 oz at a time.

We started her on food at 5 months and she loves banana's and peaches
We just moved back to Italy and everyone says I should be giving her lots of veggies and broth.

My US pedi basically sucks and gives no help and so now I've been feeing her just banana's and peaches during the day and about 16oz of milk (she refuses to drink more)

Any advice to get her to eat veggies (she hates them!)? Is it even important that she does? Is food for one reallllly for fun - or should she really be eatting three square/proper meals!?
Thanks!!!!!!

Keelan was in the same routine at 7 months as he was now, he just has double the amount of solids and has dropped a night feed but still has the same amount of milk in the day.

At 7 months his routine was…
9am breakfast - bowl of baby cereal/crumpet/toast
10:30 7oz and a nap
12:30 lunch - half a 7m jar, a fruit pot/yoghurt and few bits of finger food
3 7oz and a nap
5:30 dinner - half a 7m jar, a fruit pot/yoghurt and few bits of finger food
8:30 7oz and bed
Then he'd have another 7oz bottle in the night, he wouldn't drain all of these bottles but always had 5-7oz at each feed. He didn't always have jars either, a lot was homemade but I put jar so you can see the quantity he had.
