My baby girl turned 8 months yesterday. She CAN bear weight on her legs when you hold her up, but she only does it a couple of times for a second and then lifts her legs up. Seems to have no interest. She can sit confidently for last 2 months and roll about like mad. She is a very big baby. Should I be worried?

No need to worry. My baby turned 8 months on Tuesday, and a few weeks ago (just after she turned 7 months), I took her for a checkup to the peadiatrician. One of my concerns was that she can only bear weight for 1-2 seconds on her legs, always lift (or rather, buckle) the left leg first and I have to support her (hold her up) under her arms. The pead told me she's perfect and not behind at all and that I shouldn't worry about it at all.

She probably just doesn't understand what you want her to do. Will she stand propped up against the sofa/a chair if you put her on her feet?

My LO is 8 months and she can bare weight on her legs but in the last week r so she has started lifting the legs when I want her too stand . Kinda like she know that I want her to stand but won't . She went for her 8 month check on Wednesday and the nurse stood her up for like 2 secs and sat her back down again . So she didn't even expect her to stand for too long anyway .

My son never took ANY weight on his legs at all til one day at 10.5 months!!

I was worried and went to my health visitor when he was past 9 months but she just said to give it time.

They do all get there in the end.

Mine either! He has done it a coupleof times but right now, like crawling, I don't think he sees the point! He sits fab now and he seems to deem that all he needs to do, he doesn't even bother rolling no!

My dd was the same. I kept trying, but she would pop her legs right up like a little frog. Then all of a sudden at 11.5 months, she just started doing it. I held her up and she stood on my lap. A few days later she was standing holding on to the table and the couch (I still had my hands there to support her.) For her birthday she got one of the push walker toys and she stands there so happily. She doesn't move but she is thrilled to stand there.
Try not to worry!
