My dd is very very active. Loves being on her feet, is pulling herself up on everything and walks along furniture. She is a wee monkey and escapes out of everything. The problem is her speech. She doesnt seem to babble. Definately doesnt do consonents, when she does babble its mostly ahs. She will grunt when she wants something and when she is waving. A boy at baby group is 4 days older and alot more progressed speech wise. Just looking for you ladies to put my mind at ease with your experiences.

She's just working on the physical stuff first. I know loads of babies who haven't been that vocal until 1.
My Lo was the opposite. Lots of sounds but didn't crawl til 10.5m or pull to standing til 1!

my 8 1/2 months old pretty much the same thing. Active, nearly walking too, but only says and a few other vowel sounds ...and some raspberries and other weird stuffs with her tongue. my son was the talkative one, and she is the quiet one. I thought it was suppose to be reverse (boys are more quiet)

I was talking about milestones today at my well-baby appointment, and our nurse said that what she reads on the internet is really way advanced compared to what she actually sees, day to day with the little ones. Anyway, we discussed sitting and babbling, and where online you hear a lot about LO's doing both at 6 months, she says she really considers 8 months to be the mark where she starts to see about 50% of babies doing those things. I know your LO is 9 months, not 8, but just thought you might like to hear this perspective, because your LO might not be as "behind" as the internet can make you feel!

I have had the same experience as Maviyildiz, our HV is always so impressed with LO even though compared to the BnB babies, she is pretty slow at everything physical! I wouldn't worry about the lack of babbling. My LO is almost 9 months and started doing a bit of babbling a couple of weeks ago and now won't stop squarking DADADADA WUB WUB WUB, I think she's into dubstep ;) With all of these milestones and new things, I feel like they happen really quickly - one day they'll be sat there unable to move and the next they're crawling around like mad, yelling all sorts

My Lo just started actually babbling with consonants a few days ago and she'll be 10 months tomorrow. I was on again off again concerned though I could see her comphrehension was great. Now she won't stop chattering and I call her my drunken sailor!

Thanks everyone for the reassurance. I know she has focused alot on the physical stuff lately hopefully she will progress with her speech now. I know once she does start ill be wishing her to stop lol

You never stop worrying when your a mum do you lol
