where do I start :haha:

Christmas 2012 - my little williams waters broke on 5th Dec at 21+5 gestation - reason unknown possible infection??

He was born Dec 19th (23+6 - reason unkown - emergency csection) and spent christmas in the scbu - sadly he passed at 8 days old dec 27th.

All I am wanting to know if anyone has suffered a traumatic second trimester loss and then gone on to have a healthy rainbow baby? I have had two previous pregnancies prior to him and they were fine with no complications and it tore our lives apart having to go through what we did with William.

Think I'm overly worried because there was no known reason for any of the things which had happend to him

Charmfan - so so sorry for your loss, sounds horrendous. No personal experience of this but I know 2 friends who had second tri losses and went on to have perfectly healthy pregnancies the second time around. So hoping this is the case for you too :hugs:

Thanks, suppose best thing to do is to take it a day at a time :hugs:

I'm so sorry for what you've been through  I went through a second tri loss I wasn't as far as you and I gave birth. It is the most horrendous thing in the world!
My baby was very ill due to chromosomes, but I went on to have two healthy boys after that, and am now pregnant again, but I'm still petrified and dreading the first scan, I'm still expecting to be told something's wrong :(

It's one of those things u never really recover from but u do get stronger
Try to relax I'm sure this pregnancy will be 100% perfect for you :hugs:

I hope so, I had a lot of bleeding (which I googled - subchorionic haematona i think its spelt) Had multiple scans was no reason for cause but found several clots which they didn't know what caused them, after spending some time on google I seen that its actually linked to PPROM (premature rupture of membranes) ended up having an emergency section because when I went into labour they checked me for dilation and there was prolapsed cord (umbilical cord dropped out of the cervix, fatal for baby)

I don't know I'm just freaking out and now thinking this is a bad idea, but I wouldn't of gotten pregnant if it wasn't meant to be would I?

I've tried to call the drs but the system they have is ridiculous now so its proving difficult to get in to see them so thinking I'll just wait a few more weeks until I see the midwife, I don't know

It's hard not having the answers to your questions because then you don't have any idea of what you can do to fix it. But, just take it one step at a time and remind yourself that every pregnancy is different. Also, I know someone who had 2 or 3 (I can never remember) 2nd tri losses but she went on to have two healthy boys.

Thanks, I just don't understand what happened with him because I had two healthy babies previously! And with them telling me its all unexplained I feel like its my fault and I did something to make it happen!Instead all I'm left with is "its just one of those things"

I saw someone post a link on here for a thread on SCH but I can't remember what one it was on

I've had hematomas with at least three of my pregnancies (including my current pg) but possibly two more that went undiagnosed as I miscarried before they could find them. The only thing I've learned about hematomas during pregnancy is that doctors haven't studied them too much so they don't know very much about them. What they have been able to tell me for sure though is that there isn't anything I've done (or haven't done) to cause the bleeding and there's nothing that's really known that can prevent them. So don't beat yourself up about it. My advice is to have this pregnancy monitored as closely as you can convince your doctor to do so and hopefully you get your rainbow baby this time!

I'm sorry for ur loss ... I too had a loss later on at 19 weeks 5 days .His name is max On 12/20/12 lost heart beat .. I'm pregnant again and I'm kinda where u are :.( the not knowing really sucks .. I bled at week 6 and they don't know why.. I also have a previous pregnancy that went totally normal which no problems before my max.. It crazy to think even later on u never know is something can happen .. I too was left with " it just happens " . I hope everything works out for u :) happy healthy 9 months to u

Wow thank you that's really helpful, I had my first bleed at 9 weeks and then I think another one a couple weeks after, by the time I was 19 weeks I was having them 2/3 times a week accompanied with agonising pain, to the point where I couldn't move for 3 hours, it got worse after my waters went, maybe my body wasn't prepared for him even though he was medically healthy. The bleeding wasn't like a period either it flooded everywhere :(

As you have had it happen more than once is it likely to happen again to me?or is it another thing which is unknown :hugs:

I tend to bleed during the 7-9 weeks time frame I've also miscarried during so the 1st tri is simply agonizing for me. Makes me wonder if my bleeds are starting when I would mc if I wasn't taking a progesterone supplement due to low progesterone levels but the drs can't say Yes or No. As you say, it's one of those unknowns. As for you, I have no idea. I was told sch happen in ALOT of pregnancies but they don't always bleed externally so most women don't even know they have one. I also have a friend who had a major bleed at 20 something weeks and was diagnosed as an sch. She went on bed rest as a precaution until the bleeding stopped and successfully carried to term and didn't have a hematoma with her next pregnancy. My dr put it wisely. She said scientifically there is so so so SO very much that has to happen exactly right for a pregnancy to result in a healthy child that even she (a medical doctor) has to admit children are truly a miracle.

My bleeding has always been occasional spotting and it has ranged from lite pink only when I wipe (this time) to blobs of red discharge several times a day. I've never bled for more than two weeks with a sch and with my daughter, the first sch was gone by 12 weeks but I developed another and that one was gone by 20 weeks possibly soon as they didn't do an ultrasound between 12 and 20 weeks. My friend's bleeding was just one big gush that didn't stop for quite a while. She didn't have any cramping though and the bleeding was gone in about two weeks. I don't know if this helps at all but those are the only experiences with sch that I know of.

Thanks ladies that really helps :hugs: If i can get to 10 weeks without a bleed I think I'll relax a little and have a bit more hope in this one being a success!

I am planning on booking in to see the midwife in a couple of weeks when I am on lates so it won't interfere with work to find out the action plan for this pregnancy :flower:

That's the way to look at it. I always advocate for closer monitoring when you have concerns. That's what your doctors and midwives are for, right? I'm currently being monitored more closely myself because of my current sch with this jellybean. No spotting since last week but the dr wants another ultrasound in 3wks to make sure the hematoma is shrinking or gone. Makes me feel so much better. And, if something were to go wrong, (which I really hope doesn't) hopefully being watched more closely will lead to some answers as to why it happened, right?
