I was admitted to day assessment for the fourth time on 25th Feb after a midwife appointment revealed that (yet again!) my blood pressure was high. Just before I actually went to hospital, though, I started contracting and having regular pains.
I let the midwife know that was monitoring me in day assessment and she checked me to find I was 2cm and my waters were "bulging" and the machines were indeed showing regular contractions. She told me that my waters looked like they were about to pop and she believed they would burst naturally, but because my blood pressure remained high, rather than send me home and tell me to come back when my contractions were stronger and more regular, the doctors thought it best I stay in hospital and be monitored. I was now classed as "high risk"![Sad :( :(](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
Unfortunately, over the next few hours my contractions came to a halt, so after a long wait and no labour, the hospital decided to induce me. On the 27th Feb my waters were popped, but after little progression, I was placed on a hormone drip.
I was in labour for about 6 hours when I was finally ready to push. My midwife told me to "breathe through it" and not to push yet as I was only 6cm. But literally within 5 minutes of being checked, I reached down to feel my babies head in the birth canal. My midwife didn't believe me! She was so shocked to find that I'd progressed from 6 to full dilated within 5 minutes and I was pushing for 10 to 15 minutes!
