I'm due December with baby number 4, and at that time our third will be 18 months. The third was weaned officially a week after her first birthday. Super, super easy transition. Zero resistsnce and one day I just stopped giving it her and she just stopped asking. She looks at my breasts when I'm naked or tries to pull them out just to get a look or grab them and I let her, curious to see if she will try to nurse but she never does.

Today, she made the motion for it- like diving in (lol) but stopped and just laid on my chest sucking her two favorite fingers.

My question is: with the new baby and me nursing, will she want to start nursing again? If she does, then what? Do I let her? What are your experiences?

Thanks in advance.

I'm interested in this as well. I switched to pumping after the first couple months of his life, but lately he has taken an interest in my nipples, I'm thinking because they are so much darker. He also pulls my shirt down, although I'm not sure why (it's not like he can remember nursing, right...? Don't know ) I will absolutely let him nurse when the twins get here if he chooses, though, especially because I still regret that I was not able to exclusively breast-feed him.

I weaned my son at 19 months, his sister arrived when he was 23 months, and he didn't want to nurse just because she was :)

If she does it may be because baby is doing it, not a security need. She is already showing examples of being able to soothe herself in ways other than nursing.

If she does it wouldn't be the end of the world to say no if you don't feel up for tandem nursing.

Congrats on your pg and all the best XX
