I want to get her the Boon potty, but is that a bad present for Christmas? I don't know how I feel about giving her things she is going to need anyway?

Hmmmm I wouldnt get a potty for mine but everyone is different.....

People give pyjamas as Christmas presents, so I don't see why you couldn't give the potty. She's too young to understand she'll 'need' it anyway, and at least this way she might see it as something more fun rather than a learning task?

But I'm all for giving 'needed' things as a present (and always get shouted at by my DH for this) - hence why my parents usually get cups, tea towels, towels etc for birthdays & Christmas =P

Well, the thing is...is I'm either going to get her that (along with her other things obv), or I'm going to end up spending money on more toys she won't look at. Still not sure though.

i was thinking about this, well i was thinking about making her cloth nappies for xmas and paul said i wasnt allowed  i dont think theres anything wrong with it, we get smellies for xmas, thats along the same line i reckon

x

Im getting Josh the usual baby bits...But then the rest is all clothes and money for savings account. He'll have bits to open on xmas day but I dont see why he can't have the bits he'll need aswell

I think a potty can be a Christmas present-- it'll probably be just as exciting to her as any toy etc you can buy! :)

I never thought that way  I would most def. give Helena a potty for Christmas. I plan on giving her things she needs.

Btw, that potty looks like a printer

 its got a side thing to put toilet paper in and it turns into a stepstool so she can wash her hands and brush her teeth

I think this is a great idea to be fair :D as someone else said...takes the emphasis off learning task and it's something exciting...could kick start the potty training process off to a good start if not already started.
I think I may pinch this idea in a few years time :D
also love that potty

I'd definitely buy kids what they need - family and friends will buy them toys which they probably won't really play with anyway!

I'd go for.. As someone mentionned, this year she's still too young to know that she "needs" it... Plus, maybe the potty thing will be more exciting to her if she gets to rip it open, instead of it just appearing!

I think it's a great idea to get people/babies what they need. You are going to be buying it anyway for her so why not wrap it up for christmas?!

we bought rhys a potty with his christmas money from colins nan...

I think I'm going to get it.

I was looking at other things but does she really need another activity table? She is going to ignore it and continue to destroy the rest of my house anyway

Father Christmas brought our son a potty for xmas and wrapped up with it was a book that we could read to him about a baby using the potty. All he done was played with it but it was always kept in the front room with his toys, so when the time was right to start him with his potty training he wasnt scarred of it. So i think its a great idea xx

def!!

at that age they dont know what they need and i like the idea of introducing it as a fun idea iykwim!

luisa is getting clothes and bits for her birthday... bad parent? no sensible parent lol
