A question about induced labour

I was just reading another thread about induction labour and I started thinking of my own experience (induced at 41 w). In general, it was a wonderful experience. I must admit I was really anxious and worried about going into labour while DH was at work, and not having anyone around to help me if my water broke, so induction ended up relieving much of that stress cos we could go to the hospital together and arrange everything with time.
The only thing I didn't like was having a drip many hours after labour. My baby was born at 5:08 pm, and it was 12a.m. that night and I started feeling like I was going on labour all over again. I felt contractions and felt very sick and wanted to rip the thing off my arm. When DH found a nurse and got to ask her about it (thinking for sure I was delusional from the whole experience) the nurse indeed confirmed that the drip had oxitocin and it was helping me release everything from my uterus to prevent clots forming.
So my question is: is this normal? And if labour hadn't been induced, would I have felt like that naturally so many hours after labour?
I ended up closing the drip so it'd stop dripping the damn thing, and the nurse removed it about an hour later...

I was induced at 40+10 and I also found my induction to be a wonderful experience very much for the reasons you stated below and I am almost scared about going naturally with #2 due to it

I was not put on a drip at any point in my induction only the weird inserted thingy up there! and certainly nothing after labour

Are you in the U.S. or the U.K?
The drip is only really given after birth in the UK if you have had a haemorrhage at/after birth and it's to help the uterus contract to control bleeding. It's usually only given over 4 hours though here though so I'm assuming maybe you're in the U.S and things are done differently there.
If you didn't have a heavy bleed then I don't really know why you'd have been given it, it's certainly not given as standard here - but perhaps worth discussing next time you see someone and ask whether its routine, and whether you can not have it this time..?

Neither actually, I'm in Argentina. I don't think I was bleeding beyond normal, so perhaps it was unnecessary to have it on for so long... Thanks for your replies! I will definitely talk about it with my OB then

I was given a IV/drip with DS. I also had good experience being induced. I wasn't nervous about going on my own, but I have a long drive and was a little worried about that aspect. My drop stayed in for awhile afterwards, but I never felt any contractions afterwards (but I never felt the small contractions I was having in the beginning of labor).
I would ask your midwife/doctor about it and see what they think about your experience.
