A real + hpt or from the trigger shot?

Hey everyone. I'm really anxious and nervous since I suffered a miscarriage on Thanksgiving and only got a few weeks into my pregnancy. This is the last IUI cycle my dr will do and wants to consider IVF.

Today is 12 days after my Ovidrel/HCG shot and 10DPIUI. I think I may have ovulated on my own the day before, though so I could be 11DPO.

My question is, as you can tell from the title, is this a genuine BFP or is there ANY chance that it could be the Ovidrel lingering in my system? Usually the shot is out of my system within 6-8 days after, but who knows if for some reason it could be longer. I sometimes see people say it could take 10 days, but a few sites say 14.

I just don't want to get all excited and tell my husband. He was just as wrecked as I was when the last pregnancy didn't make it. We've been trying over a year now and I just don't want to break his heart if I don't have to.
So any advice or experience is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for reading this and commenting.

Hmm. I don't know hun. I don't know anything about the trigger shot but, your hpts seem to be getting darker so I would think that means your pregnant. Seems to me that if it were from your shot then it would get lighter as the levels decrease. Maybe call your doctor and they can do some blood testing. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I am scheduled for bloodwork at 14DPIUI which is Thursday...I still feel I O'ed on my own the day before IUI. I'm debating on calling them tomorrow to see if they'd let me come in earlier than Thursday. Otherwise, the fear of another loss will have me all week!

The lines definitely look like they are getting darker. The average I've seen most websites say to wait to test after an HCG shot is is 10 DPO. I'd say wait a couple days and retest just to be sure while you wait for your follow up. Good luck!

I agree that the fact it is getting darker is a very good sign. i dont know enough about the shots to know how they affect tests, but I doubt your test lines would be getting DARKER if that was all it was!!! Good luck to you and your DH hun!

I have a friend on another site who also takes the shot and she is on the slow end of metabolising the hormone so she has to wait till 13 dpo which would be 15 days past trigger! Like the other ladies said they are getting darker so I would say call the doc tell them you got a + hpt and are sure the trigger is out. They will have to do something! Good luck!!

Thanks, everyone. I called my dr office and initially my bloodwork was set for 14dpiui (Thursday), but she told me to come in Wednesday morning. She also confirmed that Ovidrel would have left my system by now - especially since I usually metabolize it out within 6-8 days after.

So really, my only hope is that my numbers are good and double. Last time my numbers were low and didn't double, which caused the loss. The line was darker today than Sunday, so I hope it's a good sign. There's nothing like a wait to find out.

Not sure if you ladies want to see my tests so far...Tomorrow is bloodwork. I am stressing out! Got a lot of AF type cramps right now.
DH still doesn't believe anything yet since our loss back in November. Hope I can prove him wrong with the HCG results! Maybe I'll get the dr office to write him a note as "proof" that he can be happy and celebrate. haha

So here I am, 13DPIUI. Got bloodwork results from today and my HCG level is 179! She said she the number is lovely and that she wouldn't have expected a number like that until 14DPIUI.

Considering my previous loss, I am so hesitant still. She said she understood our apprehension about being excited just yet. The only thing that keeps me going is that the lines are dark and my HCG never got past a level of 17 back in November. DH and I want to be excited, but are just nervous and feel like we'd be jumping the gun if we celebrated now. The nurse said she never felt okay about her own pregnancies until she could hear the heartbeat at the 6 week ultrasound. When did any of you ladies finally accept the (if you ever had one) and feel happy and secure about it?

ARGH! I just want to feel relief and happiness! She said to just take each piece of positive news as a gain and just take it day by day. I have followup bloodwork on Friday to see if my levels have at least doubled. Oh the waiting continues!

congrats hun, i know you are scared but try and enjoy it as it goes by so quickly, time will help in giving you more confidence but the worry will never really stop, when i accepted that i had no control over anything it made it easier to get on with things, happy and healthy 8 more months hun, xxxxxxxx

oh yu already updated...lol. Good news!!!!!! yay!!!! After you hear the heartbeat i think the risk of m/c drops to like 15%. We had a loss and my hubby was thee same way when i got pregnant with my daughter he didnt accept it, but my doc said if the numbers double everything seems to be going according to planned. So if your numbers double.....CELEBRATE!!!! So happy for you!

Thanks so much, everyone. Ahhh. I am totally feeling nervous about tomorrow's beta results. I am scared of a lower number or it not doubling. I wish the initial # mean I could stop worrying. I must sound selfish or stupid or something... I wish a BFP just meant you were all set with no worries. lol

Ok I'm back. So 13DPIUI the beta was 179. Today is 15DPIUI and the number is 325. Bloodwork and ultrasound next Friday to make sure the sac is in the uterus.

My question (since I always have one): Is it ok that the number didn't exactly double? Double would have been 358. I don't know why I didn't ask when I had the nurse on the phone, although they'd do their best not to worry me. Maybe some of you have experienced this. If you could let me know, that'd be great.

Thanks again. I'll just be a wreck until Friday's beta and u/s. What are the chances the embryo implants somewhere other than the uterus. Does anyone know?
