Hi

I'm new to this forum.

Have been trying to conceive for a year and a half. My partner had 2 sperm tests, both showed high sperm count and good motility, but only 3% then 6% normal form respectively.

Does anyone know of anyone who has conceived after similar test results?

I've been stressing about my partners diet etc which is starting to cause arguments and making for an unhappy time of late

Any comments/ advice would be VERY much appreciated...

Thanks

my oh has 1-2% normal sperm
and to be classed as normal it shud be over 4% so u dnt seem to bad
wot was his motilty and count
xx

His first test showed 78 million/ml and 64% rapid motility.

The second was 122 million/ml and 58% rapid motility.

The doctor (who actually admitted he doesn't know a lot about fetility!) reckoned we should be ok, but then I go onto websites and read otherwise.

I've had numerous text messages this past week from friends and work colleagues who have just found out they are pregnant or who have just given birth and whilst I'm happy for them, it has made me feel really upset at the same time.

Think stressing about my oh's sperm is just a symptom of this upset, if that makes sense?!

yuh i no wot u mean about all this!!
has he been checked for a varecele hun
is he tkin vits x

Yeah he's taking a multi-vitamin, zinc, and a couple of others.

No, nothing's been mentioned about any further tests for him since 6% in classed as 'normal'...I didn't even know that you could be checked for a varacele!

there is a website that tells u how u can feel for one urself,,
but seems as ur normal and have high counts id say ur all good x

Yeah, the new minimum (or rather the minimum norm) is 4%. Ours was 8% at first and then 17%, also with higher than average count and motility. We've been told everythig should compensate itself.

But of course I'm being realistic and understand that because the morphology is low it may just take us that little bit longer.

Have you had any tests done?

Hi Maria

Yeah I've had blood taken to confirm I'm ovulating, also had an internal scan and an HSG and both showed up nothing untoward. I think I'm finding it hard because the doctor said they don't need to do another SA so I have no idea if things are improving or not. My OH gave up smoking last October and is also trying to eat better, and is taking vitamins. For all I know his morphology could be a lot better by now (his last SA was Feb) but because they won't do another test I'm left worrying!!

xx

I'm in the same boat girls. We had fertility testing done earlier this year (first few tests). I have PCOS, but as well as that there are issues with DH's sperm. His first SA came back only 4% normal forms (although fine count, and just about OK motility). We were pretty devastated. Had a 2nd one done a month later and that came back only 2%... BUT the specialist suggested that even with that conceiving naturally still might well happen and also that DH should have another SA done in 3 months time, and that we should pay to do it privately, because when its done privately you do the deed there and then, so it oesnt have to travel etc. He said he thought we'd get a much better result.

Also, to give you hope, last month we got a BFP! Sadly I had an MC last week at 6 weeks  But, point is that we did get pregnant, and from my maths we conceived on the same day that DH did his 2nd SA, so you would think that we had very little chance. Hope that gives you hope ladies, it CAN happen!

Impatient - Im sorry for your loss :hugs: But you are right - it just confirms that you CAN get pg naturally! And that's so important!

And gives the rest of us with low-ish morphology hope too!

Best of luck for the next few months - I hope they bring a take-home baby

Impatient, I just want to say the same as Maria really, so sorry about your MC, but at least you know you CAN get pregnant :flower: Thank-you for sharing with us - it has made me feel beter just reading your story xx

Glad it has made you feel a little better - I was desperately searching the web for success stories with low morphology when we first found out.

Don't know if it has made a difference (we'll find out at next SA), but DH has been taking wellman conception vits, drinking more water, not had any alcohol, and has switched to wearing loose pants! Hoping his next result will be better but I think I'll be more chilled about it now seeing as we know that actually even at a time when it was 2%, we can still get pregnant. Think my HSG helped too - cleared the way for the swimmers!

:thumbup:Good luck girls.:flower:

Hi ladies!
We have been TTC for a year now with male factor. DH had his first SA done in end May. Good count, very low progressive motility (5%), agglutination and late liquefaction (morphology was not checked). It was due to an infection. he used antibiotics and next month we found normal liquefaction, improved motility (to borderline normal), improved count and %4 morphology. We conceived once (but sadly MC) and I am hopeful, on the other hand, I am worried because that could be our only chance in years so I will not achieve natural pregnancy again soon.

I have had the same worries, but you just have to try to get rid of those thoughts. I had a counselling session earlier this week (felt I really needed it) and she suggested I really need to keep saying to myself 'you're doing all you can to conceive, now trust your body and let it go'. We all want it so badly that it can become a bit of an obsession really. Just need to look after ourselves and trust that it will happen when it's meant to. And in the meantime, I have my DH doing all he can too to help his swimmers. If it happened once, it can definitely happen again. We may need to be patient, but it will be worth the wait (LOL I definitely need to listen to my own advice).

Just wanted to give you an update!
Yesterday we got DH's third SA results and we have great count (193million/ml) good motility (a+b: 65%) and normal morphology (15%)
As I mentioned two posts earlier, he had an infection and maybe his morphology improved after recovering from it completely and his sperms were all renewed in 4 months. But I want to mention what he used as supplement. Along with hormone pills prescribed by his urolog, he took GNC antioxidant formula pills and 50 mg coenzyme q10 daily for two months.
We are still dealing with fertility issues though, apparently female factor now. We are TTC on steroids for 3 months.
Good luck!

Which particular GNC pills was it?? My DH has had 5 and 7% for his morphology and he is desperate to find something to help xx

I couldn't find the link in GNC's UK or USA websites but here is a link from a turkish site:
https://www.saglikbahcesi.net/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=121

It is "antioxidant formula"
three capsules contain the following:
Vitamin A (100% as beta - Carotene) 20000 IU
Vitamin C (as Arcorbic Acid) 1000 mg
Vitamin E (as d - alpha Tocopheryl Succinate) 300 IU
Zinc (as Hydrolyzed Protein Chelate) 15 mg
Selenium (as Hydrolyzed Protein Chelate) 50 mcg
Copper (as Copper Gluconate) 2 mg
Manganese (as Manganese Sulfate) 2 mg
Citrus Bioflavonoids Complex 5 mg
Hesperidin Complex 5 mg
Rutin 5 mg
Coenzyme Q - 10 75 mcg
Pycnogenol 1 mg
RNA (Yeast Free) 750 mcg
DNA (Yeast Free) 750 mcg
Ginkgo Biloba Extract 2 mg
Silymarin (Milk Thistle Extract) 2 mg

He used one a day. I heard pycnogenol is good for morphology. Some other pill containing it would also be useful, maybe?
good luck!
