Hi ladies,
If your bubs had an acid reflux, when did they develop it? My daughter (full term at 38 wks) got it almost right away, maybe a week after she was born. I am now holding my breath that Greyson is going to get it soon being preemie. He seems to be getting gassy and spits up periodically but I think he needs a lot of burping time. It doesn't even compare to what my daughter had - vomiting after each feed, crying for 3+ hours straights etc.
The nurses in NICU told me if he didn't develop it by now, chances are he won't have it. Do you think it's accurate?

Nope , I'm sorry - I wouldnt' say it was accurate. Our 27 weeker was a perfect little feeder until 8 weeks corrected age (so that was 20 weeks actual!) - then it all went so wrong, she was the projectile type :dohh:

My term(2nd ) baby was gassy and brought up a bit for the first few weeks, but she never developed reflux - but like you I was terrified history was repeating itself!

My lo who was 6 weeks early developed it about 10 weeks actual. I heard that because they are so sleepy when first born it doesn't show symptoms till later on. Still trying to control it now at 5 months.

I think we got it now. Started throwing up a little after each feed and omg the voice on him... About 30 min after the feed starts getting uncomfortable and only wants to be kept upright. Definitely not sleepy anymore. So here we go again... :nope:

Both of my NICU babies had reflux. I kept them upright for a while after each feed, and also propped them up on an angle anytime they were lying down. It helped a lot, and they didn't spit up nearly as much.

My son got it at about 1 week adjusted age. I think from being in nicu 15 weeks he wasn't used to being jostled so much and as soon as he came home he developed it. I make sure to keep him upright right after a feed for at least 30 minutes and try not to move him much. He spits up a lot more for his dad because dad is constantly re-positioning him!
