Hi ladies,

It's been a hard day today with a BFP announcement from one friend and another giving birth. I'm happy for them both but it doesn't half play on my mind.

Anyway, my friend who just got her BFP has been seeing an acupuncturist and was advised to cut out dairy and wheat and had also been taking prenatal supplements and omega 3 seeds.

I'm just wondering if anyone else takes supplements, sticks to a certain diet or has acupuncture for ltttc? I'd love to give acupuncture a go but we're in the process of buying a house so I'm struggling to 'justify' the cost until we've completed on the sale.

I'm looking at trying acupuncture soon, just waiting for $$. But months ago I removed gluten and dairy from my diet. Huge difference for me. I can tell it helps. I most likely have endo and I have less/no pain from it while I'm strict.

In Jan I will also be removing soy and debating to eliminate sugar and yeast too.

I haven't tried supplements but also looking into doing this too.

Sugar would be the hardest for me to eliminate as I have a massive sweet tooth! :D

I think I might give a wheat-free and dairy-free diet a go after Christmas. I've also just bought some omega 3 supplements.

I read on the Internet that drinking full fat milk is good for ttc. Not semi skimmed as it has added hormones?? I don't do this but was thinking about it. Maybe non dairy is the way to go? I started with weekly accupunture and have reduced it to monthly as they said monthly would work well. Reflexology is suppose to be good for ttc too.

I cried for a weekend when my best friend told me shed accidently got pregnant again! That was the worst weekend ever:-((((

You can see all the supplements that i am taking right now and I love Acupuncture. It has made a world of difference for my anxiety and stress level.

Next year I am going to try to do the gluten free ... Thinking this will make a huge difference diet wise.

LD - I too have read a number if full fat vs non fairy debates on the internet. I'm not a fan of milk anyway so I figure dairy is relatively easy for me to cut out. I drink my coffee with coffee mate which is a non dairy product so hopefully that's ok. Cheese would be my biggest downfall as I tend to add it to most meals if I can get away with it!

It's so tough hearing your friends have got pregnant. My friend was ttc herself so told me sensitively and her first words were "I'm sorry". I was, and am, thrilled for her but it does feel a bit 'why not me?'

Myshelsong - that's a lot of supplements. Do you take them as a prenatal multivitamin or all seperately? The prenatal vitamins are expensive but I suppose it's swings and roundabouts if I was to go out and buy everything individually.

I buy the mother and father be tablets from amazon- sanatogen . They are about 15 pounds in boots but about 5 pound on amazon and I get three months worth at a time. X

Is that all they cost on amazon? Bargain!

Dairy free is extremely hard (especially with gluten free too). But once you see the difference it is worth it! If you cut it out don't introduce subs for cheese or milk (drinking it regularly, use a sub for in recipes) they often are not good and will make you regret your decision. Cold turkey was the best but the detox and cravings are not fun, be firm.

As for full fat vs low fat full fat is the way to go. But then you need to reduce it. I've done lots of research. The best to do is raw but it is a high risk so we do organic full fat for my foster kids. Milk by the way is not a great source of calcium like it is advertised. Veggies are better.

No one could have more of a sweet tooth than me. But I also know if you crave certain things it could be something your body is fighting or needing more. I'm going to have to wean myself off. First eliminating all artificial sweetners (this is very toxic! And I have already done this). Then all sugar syrups (high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, agave syrup, maple syrup etc.-I'm half there right now) then all sugar.

The problem with sugar besides the empty calories is that it can feed yeast. Too much yeast can cause problems. Candida is a common issue.

If your really interested in a diet to help with infertility there is Eat to Live by Dr. furhman. I'm ultimately trying to get here but I have so many restrictions that I have not made the jump yet (I have a nut/bean intolerance that makes this diet very difficult.)

Also diet wise make sure no aritificials! No food dyes, flavoring a (even if it says natural flavorings it could still be bad, ex. Vanillin, fake vanilla, is labeled natural vanilla flavor even though it is by products of paper mills or sometimes beaver anal gland "juice", talk about gross!, regular vanilla is ok as it is from a vanilla bean and alcohol).

What's in the supplements you use? Have you noticed a difference?

How much macca do you take? I tried it but holy flatulence it was not good! I tried reducing it but wasn't sure how to build up tolerance!
How did you build up? Any others you had to too?

For the Maca I take a 500 mg capsule 2 x a day
As for the other ones, the only one I had a side effect with was the Coq10. it does a weird stomach thing to me so I actually stopped taking it this week. It is sappose to help improve egg quality but it is one of the more expensive ones.

I bought myself some Seven Seas 'trying for a baby' prenatal vitamins. They were a fiver for 4 weeks worth so I thought I'd give them a go to see me through IUI number 1!

Hi Ladies, we have been taking the his and hers conception tablets (thanks for the tip on amazon prices, I have been buying mine from Boots and I could have shares the amount I have spent). I done acupuncture for a few months while going through IVF, unfortunately the cycle wasn't successful but I found the sessions really helpful, I have a high FSH but we still managed to get some good quality eggs, we were just unlucky that the embryos didn't implant, I believe the acupuncture helped me get to that stage. I will go definitely go back when we do our next cycle. I have also told about Castor Oil Packs that are suppose to be really good and a cheaper alternative.

Good Luck :flower:

I think we might try the his and hers tablets for our 2nd IUI cycle (although fx we won't need a 2nd round)!

My friend this evening was raving about reflexology and how she and her friend both caught after 2 sessions. I might try that as a cheaper alternative to acupuncture.
