Hi everyone,

Today I had my first session of acupuncture and I just wondered if anyone out there has any experience of this?

I have been ttc for almost 3 years - Hypothyroidism (on tablets) and endometriosis (cleared after lap) now have unexplained infertility!

My first appointment was 1hr 40 but over an hour of that was chatting! I actually found it more like a therapy session as it was so nice to talk to someone about how I was feeling about ttc who isn't someone close to me.

Anyway.... was just wondering what other people thought about acupuncture -has it helped anyone?

Thank-you!

I started it this cycle too!
It's so relaxing, I love it so far.
Not sure how much difference it will make, but it's nice to set aside that me time and just unwind.

Hi there I went to acupuncture for a year , have been trying to conceive for 5 years.
I found it really worth while and have good positive outcomes, it helped with stress, relaxation.
Unsure as doubtful with certain things medically as chinese medicine is so different to western medicine.
My ovulation moved a few days.
But my cycle changes all over the place from 33 days onwards.
I've recently stopped it as just starting Icsi don't want anything to come between the treatment ..
But would certainly recommend I went weekly ...

Acupuncture has actually been shown to increase implantation odds during IVF or ICSI. It can also assist in making good eggs so I wouldn't stop during your IVF cycle.....it can only help, but not hurt.

Hi thanks :))
We are self funding our own fertility due to nhs protocol with bmi, we don't want any conflicting reasons why western and Chinese medicine don't mix.
I feel I came to my own natural end with my accupuncture, I was doubting what my acupuncturist was wasn't doing . :))

Oh I understand.....this is such an expensive endeavor!

I never tried that but did try reflexology as I heard that can help. It didn't but then I did only have 2 sessions. May be worth giving that a go as well. She said she could tell that my body was about to ovulate - I'm sure she said that, was years ago now - and she wasn't wrong. It's nice and relaxing as well. Good luck with the acupuncture x

Hi All, I have been getting acpuncture since Sept and starting combining that with the chinese herb tea since Dec. I have been trying to get pregnant for 10 years now. My TCM Doc is supportive of integrative medicine so I am now on Femara CD 5 - 9 and progesterone CD 15 - 25 and will be using Pre-Seed. I am currently on CD 4 so I have one femara left for this round. Lots of BD'ing for the next few weeks :). I did have my follow up with my TCM Doc and he is confident that i will be pregnant within the next 5 months so I am cautiously hopeful. I absolutely LOVE acupuncture, it has chnaged my life so far so I am hopeful that more great things will come of it!

Good luck to you all
xo

Its so good to read that other people have benefitted from acupuncture in one way or another. I was just wondering what sort of benefits it has had? I have had two sessions so far and I am not sure what changes I should feel and when/if I will start feeling them! Impatient I know!!!

Hey to be honest it really helped with relaxation, stress, anxiety, it helped with pain, I felt it had an impact on my period symptoms, not as heavy or painful, also my ovulation symptoms became very prominent.
She also helped me with painful hands and painful ankle and after a few times the pain was gone :))
I did a year treatment given up recently due to Icsi self funding. X x

I will say that I have had the same experience as optimistic13 except my periods becamce very heavy, clotty and long (sorry if TMI). My P has always been very short (3 days start to finish every 23 - 26 days) so my TCM Doc has advised that the way it is now is great as my body is finally starting to function properly. I LOVE acupuncture and will most likely continue with it for the rest of my life.

I had another session yesterday.
It was awesome. I feel so peaceful when it's done. It's so calming!
I'm hoping it helps with implantation. Grow little egg (hopefully it fertilized!)

Thanks for your answers. I had another session today and I think I am really starting the understand how relaxing it is! Obviously its far too early to tell if its had any effect on my periods but I definitely feel more positive and upbeat! Its so lovely to talk to someone too. I will definitely keep going with this!
